Other Bands / Your Top 5 of 2009
« on: December 23, 2009, 11:23:48 AM »
So, whats everyones favourite albums of 2009? Doesn't have to be Prog, just anything you've liked as an album.

For me it's been:

5. NOFX - Coaster
4. Guilt Machine - On This Perfect Day
3. Riverside - ADHD
2. Transatlantic - The Whirlwind
1. Dream Theater - BC&SL

There's been loads more albums I've loved, but those 5 are definately the ones I keep listening too again & again.

Any Other Business / Website Feedback
« on: November 04, 2009, 09:24:07 PM »
Right, I've been playing about with this idea, the site is currently like this:
http://www.thelost-boys.co.uk

But I've been looking at another design to freshen it up a bit, thoughts?

http://www.sm-motorsport.co.uk/stuff/tl ... e_site.jpg

With the signpost at the side being the navigation buttons (kinda all ties in with "Lost" theme too, no? :D )

Also, if anyone is a proper gent (or lady!), and knows of how I could get a piece of coding that will show up the latest forum post on the website, it would be HUGELY appreciated :D

Any Other Business / Little Help?
« on: October 21, 2009, 03:03:50 PM »
Got a works quiz night happening soon, and it's music based.

My team is 2 girls & 2 guys, and we've to pick a team name based on a group/band.

So any ideas for bands etc that had 2 guys & 2 girls?

And we've already had ABBA, Bucks Fizz & Brotherhood of Man.

So anyone know of any others that aren't spectacularly cringeworthy?

Got this today and listened to it through a good few times in the office.

It's....alright.

It's all very samey as whats went before, a few tracks that stand out (Guiding Light and Unnatural Selection come to mind)

The album is definately a grower, the more I've listened the more I've liked it, but it's certainly not got that "Wow" factor the other albums have had on their first few listens.

Frost* / FAO Scottish Frosties Wanting to go to Leeds Gig
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:13:07 PM »
Any Scottish frosties wanting to go to the Leeds gig?

I got 3 tickets, but one of my mates who was wanting to go isn't getting back to me (3 weeks and still no reply!)

So it's looking like I'll have a spare ticket going if anyone's interested (not 100% yet, giving him till next week at the latest)? Also, I'll be driving down, so they are more than welcome to jump in the car :)

Frost* / Leeds - Pre Gig Meet Up
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:23:36 PM »
Right, I'll be driving down to Leeds on the 12th, probably getting there about 5-ish.

Me & my 2 mates who are coming down with me will probably need fed & watered after the drive, so was wondering if anyone else is gonna be around and wanted to have a Frostie* pre gig meet up for a quick pint and a nibble?

Other Bands / T4 Orange Unsigned Act
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:28:21 PM »
Completely bored on Sunday, and the fiancee was chopping through the channels, and this was on, and it turned out to be the final, so left it on.

3 bands/singer/songwriters there, 2 of which were Scottish (one of the main reasons I left on  )

The first band, Hip Parade (one of the Scottish ones), were the kinda music I was expecting, jumpy, catchy, indie pop in the style of The Fratellis etc:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-q2ciKhha1g

Now, the other two I really weren't expecting, the Scarlot Harlots, jungle/drum n bass type stuff, was surprised that something like that got through to the final:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_nc5si50594

And the last one was the other Scottish finalist, Tommy Reilly, which is a folky/poppy/rock-esque type of stuff, which I thought was pretty good

Tommy Reilly - Gimme A Call:

Tommy Reilly won it, and now, while I wouldn't go out and buy an album of his, I certainly wouldn't change the radio station if it was on.
