Sorry - old thread but just got back from the premier screening in Wardour Street and by-eck it didn't half sound good booming out in lovely thick Dolby-boomybassy-sorroundy-ma-jig even if I do say so meself!

Thanks Jim - much appreciated comments. Yes...I wrote it to spec and played everything except the drums & vocals. My Frost gig buddy, Tom Newman did the vocals. He's been in all sorts of West End productions and was in the X Factor finals a few years ago with his vocal group The Unconventionals. The drummer I never met (!!!) but apparently plays with Newton Faulkner.

Interesting your comments on the 80s feel. The request was for one of those "classic" dancy tracks that are played on daytime local radio ad infinitum. The initial steer was Fergal Sharky's A Good Heart but i ended up aiming for something more like Wigfield!! Not my area of expertise really. But I went for irritatingly catchy!!! Hopefully it's hit the spot as apparently there were people humming it in the corridors or Pinewood yesterday!!

The film will do the festival circuit and probably be shown around the globe (the director's win awards in the US and shown in festivals from London to Shanghai.

Friends Of Frost* / Lonely Hearts by Third Light Films
February 27, 2013, 01:20:32 PM
Hi all,

Thought I'd share this with you lot for comments etc.  I got asked to submit a bit of music for a new short film called Lonely Hearts by Third Light Films (//http://www.leonchambers.co.uk/) a couple of months ago and my little song was given a green light about a month ago. We did the final mixes last night and they're off to Pinewood tomorrow to be dolbyfied into 5.1'y'ness and mixed in with all the foley effect etc.

There are two versions - the first is a 90's dance version that's played during the film on a portable radio -
//https://www.dropbox.com/s/qufd421t8vpku1y/Heartfelt_Dance_Final.mp3

The second is a piano ballad version which is played out over the credits -
//https://www.dropbox.com/s/nv8bqfqwl3fvykb/Heartfelt_Ballad_Final.mp3

For anyone that's interested the synths, pianos and dance version drums are squeezed out of an OASYS's orifices while and the rest is real world stuff!

Not very prog I'm afraid but I did put a tiny bit of Godfrey inspired sp-sp-sp-splicing into the dance version backing Vox towards the end!!

Cheers Pedders. No cake yet - but planning to rectify soon.  Got a lovely day ahead of recording for a new film I've just been commissioned to write a song for :-)

Oh...and didn't get to any other gigs!!!!

Thus implying, by extension, that the worst gig you saw all year by far was ...  8-)
Completely forgot - I saw the Steve Hackett acoustic trio set at Trading Boundaries so (as good as Stevo was) Frost escape that accolade!

No contest: Frost Bites. A few reasons:
Front row centre position
Been an IB fan for 20 years and never seen them live before
Speak and Spell duel (and generally bloody good fun had by all)
Blunders Blinder
Nellie's biscuits
Milliontown & Once around the world in one night
Oh...and didn't get to any other gigs!!!!

Ooh - that's me at the front centre - the shorty in front of the tall bloke with the Santa hat. Queued for an hour before doors open, flying visit past the merch desk and then roots out down there all night.

What I know about photography you could write on the back of the worlds tiniest polaroid but...for what it's worth...done.

Sadly it was a virgin 'nana (and it spent most of the evening in the bottom of the photography pit just out of my reach).  No sign of our travelling friend.  Jem did pause before the section in BLM though and told us to get out our bananary offerings...only to then look slightly disappointed in the poor turnout.

YES - thanks.  That's been seriously bugging me all morning.

Great comment from Blunders on FB just now:
QuoteIn other news, on my list of things I wanted to achieve in my professional musical career I can now add, "playing 31/16 and 13/16 over 4/4 on an 80's speak and spell machine"

It was a cracker but yes..I agree..not as intimate as the best Frost gigs - but I guess as the reputation grows they're going to outgrow the nice little venues.  I hear the queue was hideous - I was near the front (having got there an hour early) but one of my lot was late and there was apparently still a queue when he got to The Scala at about 7:25 (he's an actor so put on a sob story about how his son was already inside and he had to check on him - sorry if he ended up pushing in front of any of you  :? ).

We were right up the front - centre (Sorry MikeEvs - I think I kept putting my mates coat on your head!!) and got JM's guitar full face all the way through hence the vocals and keys were a little quiet (and why my ears are still ringing).
Blunders and Nath were on stonking form.  High point I think was the Survivors section of MT.  There's not much that can force me to look away from Jem flying over the keys but last night I found myself staring open mouthed at Craig most of the gig.

The Brummie speak and spell dual was b.r.i.l.l. and the whole crowd chanting"ARSE" on demand was a classic Frost moment (what was the 4th word - Frost, Arse, Trumpet, ...?).  Really hope both that and the intro will find their way onto the Toys section of the forum at some point.

I'd never seen IB live before despite being a fan since Once Around The World days and thought they were great (although it must've been tough for Bob and John to follow Craig and Jem - Christ...would you want to go onstage and follow those two?!?!?).  It was good to see JM fly though as I feel he doesn't really get to shine in a lot of the Frost stuff.

Sadly had to rush off at the end so didn't get to see anyone (managed a very brief hi to LFE as he passed me in the queue) although spotted a few Forum Tees (and obviously Pedders leading the queue).

BTW - does anyone know what was being used to mic up JM's 4x12 and Nathan's TC Electronic?  Looked like odd blue baffles around the gtr mics and a big red thing on the bass.  Not seen them before and neither had my sound engineer buddy.
