No, this isn't the start of a list of Scandinavian bands!

I'm fine, thanks. Busy at the day job, and Eden is no more - musical differences and all that. Probably just as well, as I'm currently carless, so couldn't get around to gigs anyway.

Anyway, enough of that - did you know that the NRE 1GS7B is a low-emissions diesel switcher locomotive built by National Railway Equipment. It is powered by a single Cummins QSK19C I6 engine which develops a total power output of 700 horsepower (522 kW). There have been seven 1GS7B locomotives produced to date, all manufactured at NREC's Mount Vernon shops in Southern Illinois. It's also the only current single-engine switcher marketed in NRE's N-ViroMotive catalog.

If you are working purely with MIDI then you will be able to get away with using your laptop's onboard soundcard

I agree with everything else you said, however I would disagree with the quote above if you are using soft synths and want to play in real time, as the latency from an onboard soundcard is probably far too high to work effectively.

I think for anything serious music related, you are going to need a decent audio interface anyway and there are plenty of options (again look at m-audio and edirol).

Record sales don't mean a damn thing. By that logic, Britney Spears is one of the best musicians to have ever lived. I still like DT once in a while but there really are much better bands, Frost* included. Two albums in and they're already that much better than DT. If it came down to a keyboard duel between Jem and Jordan Rudess, Rudess might play faster but Jem would play stuff much more interesting to listen to.

Why does one band have to be "better" than another - can't you appreciate the good parts of both bands?

Its not a competition - its something that appeals to your emotions. If you like Frost* more than DT, then thats fine, but it doesn't make DT a bad band does it?

But never mind that - did you know that the Caistor Canal was a 4-mile (6.4km) canal in Lincolnshire, England, constructed in 1800 and abandoned in 1936. It ran from the River Ancholme, near South Kelsey toward Caistor through 6 locks, although it did not reach the town as it terminated in Moortown 3.5 miles (5.6km) away.

Its a bit like driving around in a 40 year old car, compared to the comfort of a shiny new car - I can't imagine many people would take the old one out of choice!

Well there are much more realistic ways of amplifying acoustic guitars so they can be heard above large ensembles these days, but some guitarists still insist on using solidbody electrics with magnetic pickups and valve amps.
