Wow.  It was worth the wait.  They've totally hit the ball out of the park here.  Finished off my first listen while driving to a gig on Saturday night and was getting shivers down my back over and over.  Then I'm embarrased to say I had to pull over during the last 3 or 4 minutes of the last track (Hedgerow) as I ended up in tears.  Never happened to be before - I was just totally overwhelmed by the sound.  It's so British and nostalgic and heartwarming as well as being so damn clever and epic and huge and lovely and impressive and warm and thick and emotive and dramatic and ...well...I can't praise it enough - and I've only listened to it a few times.

It's the sort of thing that you want to play to everyone you know and say "Look....THIS is music.....THIS is what it's all about.  It's not about how you look or what clothes you've got on or who can drop the most consonants or even who can play the most notes and play loudest.  Sit down, shut up, close your eyes and bathe in THIS...".  But then you know that hardly anyone you do play it to will REALLY get it and secretly that's also no bad thing - sometimes things this good you just want to keep secret and to yourself.

It's a joyous thing - one of those incredibly rare and precious things that makes you feel....glad....about...well...sort of....everything.  I would say roll on Part 2 but I'm not sure my poor little brain will cope with it.

Turned out Lee wasn't there - he was off recording with a Wakeman apparently. Still - good gig when the weather held off.

Quote from: "Pedro"This is good...it seems quite a few people have retained the banana for quite a while so don't feel too bad about it.
It is slightly worrying that redevan hasn't responded to any enquiries about it, though.  :?
He got back to me very quickly when I pm'd him for his address. I'm sure he'll respond - it is the holiday season after all

Other Bands / Lee Pomeroy - The Tar Babies

My band (Far Cry //http://www.far-cry.co.uk) are supporting Lee's band at a gig this bank holiday Monday. Sadly not It Bites but his 60's covers band The Tar Babies. The gig's at Trading Boundaries near Uckfield in East Sussex if anyone is nearby. We're on at 12:30pm or so and Lee will be on stage at around 2:30 ish. It's a free gig and marks the end of TB's weekend long music festival.
Trading Boundaries is fast becoming a prog venue to watch what with gigs by Wetton (with JM), Focus, Wishbone Ash & Steve Hackett this year alone. Christ alone knows why I'm playing there then!?!

Slightly embarrassed. Gave box to Mrs A to post around a month ago. Found said box in the boot of her car last weekend!
Results:
1. Some initial apologies (admittedly fairly short lived)
2. Some accusations that my "online friends are a bunch of weirdos anyway"!
3. A comment that it's just some sodding yellow plastic in a box.
4. An observation that I'm nearly 40 and should get a life!!
5. A frosty atmosphere for the rest of the weekend...in all the wrong ways.

However, BB should by now be well & truly Brighton based. So....sorry about that folks.

My fault - redevan DID. Get back to me but too late for me to send Mr B before I went off on my hols. He is now in flight and should arrive with redevan in a day or two.  Photos from his stopover with me will be uploaded soon.

Quote from: "Rook"For instance I am perfectly happy to plonk down some cash on the new Froat album without having heard it
They must be a great band. Like Frost but more...stoaty.

My list for what it's worth:
Frost (surely a given for anyone here)
BBT
It Bites
Magenta (although one more Chameleon like release and I'll cross Mr Reed off my list)
Neal Morse projects (except the covers & worship stuff)
Imogen Heap
Divine Comedy
IQ
Steve Hackett (electric stuff)
XTC
Peter Gabriel
Steely Dan
Probably Anathema & The Flower Kings now after their stonkingly good last albums

There are probably loads of others...I'm such an iTunes whore!!

Currently waiting for a reply from redevan101.  Mr B unfortunately landed at Chez Againesis on possibly the busiest fortnight I've ever had at work: //http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18810309
