Any Other Business / Re: Gamers be where are you?

Quote from: "rogerg"ooh, might need to look into LOTRO....
It's quite nice if you like MMORPG's. Visually beautiful as well (not as toon-ish as WoW for example, but more like Guild Wars). And I don't know if the sale is still on (I think it is), but for $10, I got the game plus the two extensions, and a month of game play. That's a pretty good value, even if you end up playing for just a month and quit after. Or there's always the 7-day free trial... Or if you wait longer, starting in October I think, they'll be adopting a free-to-play model (however there will be benefits for the previously paying members - you can read about all of this on the LOTRO site).

Am I a good salesman?

PS: I'm on the Elendilmir server if you ever join in and want to meet me there sometimes...

Quote from: "El_Mayonnaise"Carcassonne is available on the Xbox too  ;)
It's also available for iPhone/iPod Touch now ;-)

My current game is LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online). That pretty much takes all my gaming time, since there's so much stuff to do in there, and since I have max 2 hours per day of gaming time...

I will also sometimes play a bit of Defense Grid on Steam...

Other Bands / Re: Destroy All Monsters
July 30, 2010, 05:32:42 PM
I received my copy of Destroy All Monsters about a week ago. YAY! I listened to the album a couple of times, and I'm enjoying it. And I get a feeling it'll grow on me, and I'll be enjoying it even more. However, may I dare, I have a complaint...

I admit I am very anal when it comes to sound quality. But is it me, or does the album sound like there's only high frequencies? The mid-range and bass levels seem way too low, for my taste anyway. I have to use the "bass boost" equalizer on my iPod to get a decent level of bass in there. Usually the bass-boost setting puts much too much bass for my taste...

But otherwise, I am happy with my purchase. Thanks Dec!

Quote from: "E.S.""Into the electric castle" and "the dream sequencer" (ok, universal migrator too) are my favorites, and some of my all-time favorite albums.

The thing about Arjen; he doesn't really do much original, but he does it so damn well. And I love the silly sci-fi stories.
Pretty much the same thing for me. Two absolutely amazing albums.

I've "rediscovered" Actual Fantasy recently. While still not in my favorite, I like it more now than I used to. Back to Planet Earth is simply amazing, and is now among my favorite Ayreon tracks.

Other Bands / Re: Rush - Beyond the lighted stage
July 08, 2010, 04:27:51 PM
I Absolutely adored it as well. I'd recommend it to anyone even if they're not a big fan of the band. If you hate them, well, of course I don't think you'll like it. But I get a feeling that no one here hates Rush. Maybe some are not big fans, but probably many like them, or at least some of their albums. The same guys made the Metallica documentary Some Kind of Monster, which I watched even though I don't really like them anymore, but I still enjoyed it a lot.

I myself am a big fan of Rush. It's probably my favorite band of all-time - one of my all-time favorites for sure anyway. I even like a lot of their 80's stuff. Even though they ventured in the pop-rock area, it was damn good pop-rock I must say  ;)

Just finished watching the Blu-Ray of this documentary, and it's excellent!

I started to watch the extras, as they seem equally good. Highly recommended  :D

Any Other Business / What are the odds...
June 30, 2010, 06:55:39 PM
I've often complained that in the region I live in, even though it's just beside Canada's capital, Ottawa, which is not that huge a city (well it's a very large surface area, but holds not a very large population, considering that area), we don't get many good prog rock acts coming over. However, Roger Waters is coming for his The Wall show, and I bought tickets for that (very happy to have them, because I heard it was sold out is just a few days, not a small feat for, again, just a moderately big city but in a large venue).

Then I've heard on the radio that Jethro Tull were coming over as well. My wife mentioned that, even though she's not a prog fan, that JT would be one prog band she would like to see live. A man needs no more to get online to buy some ticks... Just before buying, I noticed that the JT concert was in the same month as Waters. So just in case, I checked the dates for both show. Well OMFG!!! They are the friggin same date!!!!  :x  Damn it! Obviously means I cannot go to the JT concert...

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
