Just got sent this by email. It's absolutely nothing to do with anything on this forum, but I thought you might like it:

ALERTS TO THREATS IN 2011 EUROPE : BY JOHN CLEESE

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Libya and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbor" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish  navy.

Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be alright, Mate." Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is cancelled." So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.

It's ok, even good in parts. Best is the 35 minute Tarkus ( even if it does have a drum solo in it :D ) which can be downloaded from Amazon for £0.79. I think I call that value for money

Steve Hackett was er...., one year older the other day. Nick Beggs did a version of "Happy Birthday" on his Chapman Stick, which might not sound like much, but is worthwhile listening to: http://www.hackettsongs.com/ and it's on the margin, near the top

Quotes from his RWCC

"As regards other joint projects, it's very likely that I will be collaborating with both Jon Lord and Keith Emerson on separate ventures but these are likely to be later in the year."

and:-

"I plan to do at least one new recording this year as something special and also, barring a disaster, all the A&M catalogue should be released with lots of enhancements and additions."

The A&M stuff has been hard to get hold of for some time (excluding his first 3 albums) but extras? Maybe all of the Journey concert?

Numerous rumours are suggesting that she will be releasing new material this year, if not a whole album. Does she count as prog?  Don't care, something to look forward to :D

Has anyone come across one of these? It's for sticking an iPhone in and off you go with the relevant app. I use nanostudio (hardly likely to make mr g quiver in his boots) but my fingers are too big and I don't have an iPad.

I finally got round to buying a copy of this rather than my iTunes download. On importing it the artist was described as Jennifer Frost. Easy to correct and made me laugh but I was wondering does this mean she gets royalties that would otherwise go to Mr G? Probably not millions as it's prog, but still...

Ask Frost* / TPE missing songs
July 20, 2010, 10:09:45 AM
Hello.

Had the DVD on last night as the boss was out, leaving me with ironing, kids, etc and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to TDL in all it's 5.1 glory. So much so that when the kids came downstairs to complain about the volume I sent them away without even a clip around the ear.

I then watched the videos. On the set list there were 2 missing songs: "No me no you" and "Secret song". Just wondered what happend to them? Dropped from the set, not enough room on CDs or just considered not good enough?

Oh, sorry, where are my manners? McVitie's Milk Chocolate Digestives, not dunked as that washes the choc off. Like choc Hobnobs too but the kids steal them all.
