New blog http://

I feel a sort of disconnect in Jem's recent Blogs, as in he's not really talking to us anymore.  Perhaps it might be a good thing to move this forum to a new Jem godfrey centric website?  Maybe we'd feel more included in whatever process he's embarquing on.

Reading Jem's blog, part of me can't help but being cynical thinking a year from now we may find ourselves reading a blog about how his little solo music venture spun out of control (somehow) and he has to stop.  I guess that's not fair to him and I don't mean to offend but I can't help it, once bitten, twice shy and all that.

I must say it feels a little strange though that Jem has started blogging again in earnest, and planning future youtube videos, and we are still discussing it here but he's not posting here anymore because obviously Frost* is done and whatever he's doing is absolutely not Frost*.

Glad to hear he's doing better, good for you Jem  :D

But I have a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around some of his reasons.  I don't think you're a loonie(y?)  ;)  but still...

I'm sure Peter GAbriel felt that way and that's fine but he wasn't writing the songs alone, not by a longshot.  It was my understanding that Jem could write whatever he wanted for Frost*, in fact that 's what he did by making EIMA so different from Milliontown no?  The line-up changes means he could have worked with whoever he wanted, Maybe if JM wouldn't be involved we might have bitched a little but I don't think it would have been a problem for Jem to keep working with him.

So yeah, very happy he's pretty much back to his old self, but a future of Frost* without Jem doesn't really appeal to me.  No offense to anyone who might be interested. I'm just one arsehole.

It almost made me nostalgic. It's a great snapshot of what the prog world was like in the early 2000s, it must have been made just beofre Neal quit SPock's BEard and Transatlantic.

Official statement from Phil Collins http://

Greetings to all, I've decided to write this in response to the articles that surfaced last weekend regarding my retirement. Why they were printed at all is a mystery, as I haven't spoken to anybody in the press for a few months.

However, many of the articles printed over the last few months have ended up painting a picture of me that is more than a little distorted. Therefore, I would like to add my comments and try to explain again my reasons for calling it a day.

1/ I'm not stopping because of dodgy reviews or bad treatment in the press.

2/ I'm not stopping because I don't feel loved, I know I still have a very large fanbase that loves what I do. Thank you.

3/ I'm not stopping because I don't fit in, this was proved with "Going Back" reaching No 1 in the UK, and doing incredibly well worldwide.

4/ I'm not stopping so I can dive full time into my interest for the Alamo.

I am stopping so I can be a full time father to my two young sons on a daily basis.

Some of the things mentioned above have been said by me in various interviews, but said as asides with a smile on my face and in passing. They were not meant to be "headlines", they were small parts of a conversation. This clearly doesn't come over in print and I should know better.

However, the result is that I have ended up sounding like a tormented weirdo who thinks he was at the Alamo in another life, who feels very sorry for himself, and is retiring hurt because of the bad press over the years.

None of this is true.

Thanks for all your messages on the Forum regarding this stuff, it means a lot that you care.
But there's no need for the straitjacket !

PC x

That' sounds more like him but I guess he's saying he IS retired but he doesn't have a gun in his mouth just yet  ;) Still it's hard to deny his general demeanor in his public appearances lately.

I think he needs help.  How can you be Phil Collins and be that miserable?

What about the DVD?  Obviously the reshoot isn't going to happen that much is certain but I wonder if a kind of farewell DVD could be put together with whatever materials were left over.  If not on DVD then just put up on the planetfrost youtube channel.

I just bought a download of this EP on CDbaby.  I had never heard of this project until I listened to gr8gonzo's new years's show yesterday.  I thought he was playing some sort of lost It Bites b-side from The Tall Ships but lo and behold here is this weird thing featuring a bunch of folks we know!  So I'm correct in understanding that JM didn't write this music, the lads were just hired to record it?

I understand Pedro, but it still reminds me of the first days of the "new" board all over again. When all the cool kids kept posting on the old board because they didn't like that the new people weren't into biscuits or whatever.  Like it's some exclusive club.  I know nobody is doing that on purpose (least of all Jem who's just doing his thing and not caring what anybody else thinks, wich is good) and it's likely all in my mind so I'll just shut up now.

Did anybody know about this blog?  Were we even supposed to know?

Well, why would he make a blog if he doesn't want anyone to know?

No you're right.  I was just very surprised and thought maybe I had missed an announcement of some kind.

I'm not sure of the UK availability, but MXL makes some very reasonable, very good mics.  I got mine at

I second that. I have the MXL 909 http:// and got it for about 100$ US + shipping.
