Frost* / Re: The unfair of the common ant

Ah man thanks SO much, it's so cool!

Although I do think it should be grouped with Jem's other stuff, like the B sides, rather than being put as one of the Frost* songs.

I just love the story surrounding it every time. These non-progressive proggers man. It's such a sorry tale!

Super duper video! Makes me want to dig out the old pin thing that I used to have where you can make a handprint/faceprint in it. Y'all know what I'm talking about, right?

Frost* / The unfair of the common ant

So I mentioned about Jem's ELP remix to a friend the other day and remember it sounding utterly uncredible. Does anyone know if there was a cheeky/leaky version put out somewhere?

Frost* / Re: Happy Frost* Day!!

Holy god damn. I got this album yesterday in the post and had a little listening party to my fancy new vinyl with a couple of friends who I showed Frost* ages ago. It's just ludicrous. I think Towerblock is genuinely one of the best things I have ever heard.

That is genius. I've been lurking  lot and not saying much,

but Pedro.

That is the best thing I have seen in about a million years.

My mind is exploded.

Might look up The Witness :)

We do actually have a couple of songs I wrote a while ago, and I have considered doing them as live tracks instead of playing WA and the new track, but I think it'd just annoy people.

And as for making a longer version, I like the plan of sticking to 80 minutes for now, just because I feel like a big part of the demographic is people on long driver with CD players in their car. That's where I'd have it, were it me, I'm always surprised how quickly Milliontown goes by on the drive to Manchester. Now I can drive to places even farther away whilst soaking up maximum prog.

Yeah, I've thought a lot about if we were to play it live, but I think a few sections from this album and maybe from Worlds Apart could be played as bits. I remember seeing Magenta do bits of The Ballad of Samuel Layne years ago and it's stuck with me as a brilliant idea. Although I would love to hear the whole song live :P

And yeah, we actually finished the writing at 83 minutes, and did a bit of googling and decided to cut it down to about 78 to fit on a CD. I feel like technology is holding us back. Also managed to break the program we were writing it on because it couldn't handle all the MIDI. Poor thing. But Reaper is dealing with it just fine at the moment :)

We've got it cut down to 8 10 minute chunks for editing's sake, so it's nice and easy to work with too, and the drummer is starting to work his wonderful magic on it. Many excitements.

We've passed the hour mark, and it's looking like it's going for a little longer. Still got to incorporate the intro and outro, and we're on 70 minutes already. I'm predicting 1:15:00 ish. Feels pretty good.

"That wasn't a decent first line"
By intent, accident or design?
But never you mind,

Gear Corner / Re: The Bass to end all Basses.

When I took it into work one of the drum tutors exclaimed "blimey, it's like the M6!"

Currently my favourite comment.

Gear Corner / The Bass to end all Basses.
December 24, 2015, 11:58:53 PM
So I recently decided that since I'm a grown up making money from playing bass now in a function band, I'm going to do the responsible thing and save that money for when I need it.

No.

That did not happen.

I bought this.

And it looks like a piece of want and plays like a rumbly jesus. Oh how I love it so.

And as a result. I'm writing all the new Flying Machine stuff with the bass tuned to AEADGC. Godspeed cover artists.

Also merry christmas.
