Announcements / TBE back in the saddle
September 20, 2020, 07:03:18 PM
Not only does TBE have his new project 'Rain' on the go, he's also back teaching drums, either face to face or via t'internet.

https://drummerandyedwards.blogspot.com/p/drum-lessons.html?fbclid=IwAR1VznyninYXn2EOi93GW8P2kFm1yMzaOk81klgnv9G-92a7-4Xc3VVaCw0

Obviously we all know he has monster skills, and having studied with him myself (albeit years ago) I can highly recommend.

Over on the book of faces so I'm guessing most of you will have seen it, but EP to be released on June 5th - apparently all the 'big push' will start in the next couple of days.

May be of interest to some of you as Blunders is off on a tour-ette of PMT stores, in his role as a Roland ambassador and demoer of hybrid drums
I'll be at Brum ;-)

Any Other Business / Team Rock/Prog/Classic Rock
December 21, 2016, 08:25:05 PM
Looks like the owners/publishers of the Team Rock website and magazines including Prog & Classic Rock have gone in to administration, with over 70 staff losing their jobs. :(

Never nice, but just before Christmas is particularly bad.

Frost* / Fantasy Set List
June 07, 2016, 04:50:05 PM
OK,  with the gigs around the corner, though it might be fun (and maybe get the gaffer thinking ;)) to pick your ideal, and realistic setlist.

"Rules" as follows : set duration 90 minutes (ish) - our imaginary venue has a strict curfew, so you can't to be 2 minutes into 'Milliontown' as you hit the 90 and expect they let you play on.
You can take the song timings from either the album versions or any live recordings, but specify the source of your timing so everyone knows what you're on about.
You should factor in some time for in between song banter (a la Frost, Monkey, A*%$, Trumpet) as no doubt even in a dream set, you'll have some tomfoolery (wouldn't be the same else).
If you want to break the set into a 'main set' and cheeky encore you can.

Alas I'm currently working long hours in Paris, so won't have much chance to submit my own entry until the weekend at the earliest  >:(

Frost* / Get Well Soon Blunders
May 18, 2016, 12:19:07 PM
"Our" favourite superhuman percussive tour de force reported yesterday via social media that following a full on day doing some video stuff (for Roland/Mapex I'm presuming from the pix)he felt something wasn't quite right and took himself off to Docs/Hospital and ended up having a minor operation.
He's not gone in to any more details, other than to say he'll soon be back but immediate commitments (Japan clinic tour this week) have been postponed.

So, get well soon Mr B, look forward to seeing you on the road next month.

Yes indeedy folks, the pre-orders are live for our fave band's latest opus, over at the desk of Merch !!!

CD, CD + t-shirt and a limited edition clear vinyl options.

So only two questions remain:
1 - if it's clear vinyl how will I know if it's on my turntable ??
2 - what are you doing still reading this, get off and start bothering Nellie with your hard earned ££££(€€€€€/$$$$$$ - other currencies are also available)

And for the bewildered amongst you , here's a link to the Merch Desk shop

http://themerchdesk.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=87_18

And shame on you for not already having it in your favourites!!!!!!!!! :P

Sounds like a pretty nasty injury, especially the bit about the extent of the hand injury not being fully known!! :(

Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery

Just seen on 'the twitter' that you can now pre-order JM's solo album under the Lonely Robot name from Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00QY2LQTM?ref_=cm_sw_r_awd_IXRSub14J64G6

Apparently he missed a deadline to get stuff to Nellie, so this is the first place he's posted a link to.
Release date is Jan 26th.

Announcements / Sodajerker on Songwriting
November 11, 2014, 12:43:28 PM
One of my bandmates recently switched me on to this podcast, and knowing there are many musical types on here I thought it may be of interest.
I'm currently working my way through the back catalogue, and although there aren't too many proggy names on there at present, rest assured I've made a few suggestions  ;)
I think Jem and JM episodes would be fun (if they could squeeze the time in) either separately or as a duo.

Gear Corner / Midland Academy of Drumming - TBE
September 03, 2013, 09:38:38 PM
Not strictly gear related, but thought I'd drop a mention on here for any drumming Frosties that might be interested.
The MAOD is a (you guessed it Midlands based) drum school of which TBE is one of the tutors (it grew out of his old drum school).
They recently hosted a drum clinic with Steve White (Paul Weller, Oasis, Trio Valore) which was brilliant and have many other events planned.
The website is http://midlandacademyofdrumming.co.uk/ and has links to their events and the lessons p[lus Andy's pages which have references to his work with Frost and upcoming projects like Brave New Sky.

Announcements / Andy Edwards - Jobeky Drum Show
April 03, 2013, 09:41:39 AM
One for the UK-based drummers (and others of course).
TBE is playing at this year's Jobeky Custom & Vintage Drum Show at the Stafford Country Showground on May 5th, along with Ash Soan (Trevor Horn's 'go to guy') and Karl Brazil (Feeder, Robbie Williams and many others). He did a bit at last year's show as well, which also featured Blunders in full flow, but they've asked him back, hopefully he'll get a bit more time this year.

If you're not 'into' drums it's a bit heavy going (and loud) but it's great opportunity to see some top players doing their thing,  great British drum companies displaying their wares and this year the addition of vintage drums sounds really interesting too.

More details can be found at //http://www.jobekydrums.co.uk

If you're going, I'll see ya there ;-)

Other Bands / Mr So&So
June 23, 2012, 03:31:33 PM
I've recently been metaphorically bumping into this band - ad's at the Robin 2 for a gig, catching up on the Dead Nobodies podcasts, Prog magazine etc - and like what I've heard thus far.  It looks like they have secured some gigs with Marillion too so I'm excited at the prospect of hearing more.
The last band this happened with was Panic Room and that worked out pretty well!!!
Wondered if anyone on here was familiar with them ??

Other Bands / Steve Thorne - New Album
April 15, 2012, 08:41:52 PM
Just doing my occasional round up of other music sites and saw that Steve Thorne has updated his website  and has a new album out - Crimes & Reasons.
//http://www.steve-thorne.co.uk/

The last one featured JM and Nick DV amongst others, and this one seems to have Nick again along with more guest slots.
If it's half as good as 'Into The Ether' it'll be great

Frost* / F*3 - Making of DVD vs Frost* Reports
April 03, 2012, 11:06:39 AM
From 'planetfrost' on twitter

"Frosties! Do you want a making of DVD to go with this new album ? It might limit the amount of Frost reports we can do beforehand though."

So, what think you all???
I'm seriously torn - I loved seeing EIMA being constructed before my eyes and then then trying to relate the bits back to what I was hearing in the finished album, although I do like some of the candid 'in the studio' documentaries and regularly buy the special editions of albums for them.
The inference in the tweet is that there could still be some progress reports, but that the majority of the filmed escapades of F*3 would be saved for the accompanying DVD.

Also being in a band myself,  I look at what the 'marketing' potential is of the Frost* reports. I regularly sent links to friends etc , and thus created greater awareness about the band and the album in the process - if the reports were all saved for a DVD, although most of us here would no doubt buy the special edition, would Jem and the guys have missed an opportunity to promote the band in this age of social media ??

Has anyone heard any more of these guys ?? I got the first album and was listening to it again today, really good stuff. I know one of the band used to frequent here occasionally but the website has become something of a ghost town??
Really hope they have come up with some more music and can get it out to us  8-)  8-)

My daughter has had a picture selected in the final 10 for a competition to design a festive programme cover for Premier League team West Bromwich Albion. It's now over to a facebook vote so anyone who is on facebook if you'd be kind enough to vote for her picture it'd be much appreciated.
The link to page is below and you just have to 'like' her picture.
