Thanks for the wishes.
Sadly having to work today, and me and the family are recovering from our recent flu-ridden trip to the US so not the best of days, but will be doing my best to celebrate !!!
(Started the day listening to the Rockfield Files on my commute so that was enjoyable to say the least!!!)

In defence of the White Knight team they're usually pretty hot at getting stuff mailed out, so I have no concerns on that front !!

I know Jem has mentioned in the past he is a fan of the Cardiacs, and indeed would've contributed something to the excellent 'Leader of The Starry Skies' compilation* had he known of it's existence (and if memory serves had offered his services should they do a 'Vol.2').

Therefore would like to hear something completely absurd, like 'Dog like Sparky'!!!

*Leader of the Starry Skies: A Tribute To Tim Smith, Songbook 1 is a compilation album featuring cover versions of songs by Tim Smith (the songwriter behind Cardiacs, The Sea Nymphs, Spratleys Japs and Panixphere). It was released on CD on 13 December 2010 on the Believers Roast label (via Genepool distribution). The release date for download, via iTunes, is 20 December 2010.
All contributing artists and bands have either stated a strong Cardiacs influence in their music, profess sincere admiration for Smith's work, or feature at least one person who has at some time been involved with Cardiacs. Contributors to the project include The Magic Numbers, Robert White of The Milk and Honey Band with Andy Partridge (XTC), Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, Katharine Blake of Mediaeval Baebes, psychedelic metal band Oceansize, Julianne Regan of All About Eve, 1990's Britpop band Ultrasound (who reunited especially to record their cover version), Jason Pegg of Clearlake and no less than five current or former Cardiacs members - former keyboard player William D. Drake, former drummer and keyboard player Mark Cawthra, former guitarist Christian Hayes (under the project name of mikrokosmos), current guitarist Kavus Torabi (with his Knifeworld project) and former drummer Peter Tagg (with The Trudy).
The album was recorded as a response to Tim Smith's hospitalisation in 2008 (following a combined heart attack and stroke in London) was released in order to raise funds for his ongoing care and recovery. All profits from the album sales go directly to help Tim Smith. A bonus disc, called A Loyal Companion, was free with CD preorders.

Yes indeedy folks, the pre-orders are live for our fave band's latest opus, over at the desk of Merch !!!

CD, CD + t-shirt and a limited edition clear vinyl options.

So only two questions remain:
1 - if it's clear vinyl how will I know if it's on my turntable ??
2 - what are you doing still reading this, get off and start bothering Nellie with your hard earned ££££(€€€€€/$$$$$$ - other currencies are also available)

And for the bewildered amongst you , here's a link to the Merch Desk shop

And shame on you for not already having it in your favourites!!!!!!!!! :P

Indeed, me too.

I did think that ::)

However the venue does have some dark corners where he may well have been lurking!!!

Damn, didn't realise you were there Pedders - would've been nice to catch up after such a while.
As you may have gathered, the studio itself is a local recording and rehearsal facility, with the 'venue' room usually used for local band showcases and also green screen filming for webcasts and the like - so not particularly well set up for a regular gig with a lot of people.
Really looking forward to seeing the band again, especially at the excellent Robin 2

OK, somewhat late review, but I was among the modest crowd (due to the size of the venue) for the live debut of Kiama last Saturday.
Despite a technical hitch to Rob's keyboard rig meaning a slight on the fly rearrangement of the set list, the band were awesome - TBE was he usual rock solid self, Dylan & Luke (previously unknown to me) were a revelation, Rob Reed was his usual calm, composed seld (even during the taforementioned technical problems) and the the live incarnation was topped up by Dan Nelson of Godsticks(also seen with Magenta on their last couple of tours) and Tesni Jones on backing vocals (a really great voice).

Bodes well for the future, really looking forward to other gigs, including the Frost* supports.

QuoteI hope this does not conflict with him supporting Frost*, as was bandied about some time ago

I could be wrong, but I think Jem mooted that the support for the gigs may be two gentlemen associated with cranial adornments (and no, it's not Daft Punk)

The Kiama boys have announced a live show to showcase the album, and it's about 10 minutes from my house !!!!

Saturday 27th Feb @ Base Studios in Stourbridge, tickets and details from www.kiamaband.com

The live room there is good, although not massive - have played several times there myself. The studio is also right next door to the Green Duck Brewery and bar, a nice real ale place, and is only 5-10 minutes walk from Stourbridge Junction train station.
