Ask Frost* / Re: Where's Jem?

Have done the whole 'falling out of immediate love' with a band myself - in fact even fell out of love with playing at all for a while - but rest assured the excitement and enthusiasm does return and in some ways is better for the 'holiday'.

And we'll all be here when it does!!!!!

Great news about TPE too!!!!!

Ordered mine too (I love the first album)

With regard to the cost, it's important to remember that not only have they already shelled out for studio time and the like (whioch won't have been record company subsidised) they will undoubtedly not have been able to benefit from the 'economies of scale' (ie bulk discounts) for the production of the cds as they will have had a relatively 'short run'

I would hope that Jem's intention with 'releasing' the Protools sessions was for the lucky 'winner' to do some remixing/new versions of the tracks and hopefully sharing them with the rest of us.
I would think that they'd be welcomed via the FoF or Toys sections of this 'ere site.

Wasn't Jem asked if he'd do an IB/Frost* gig a while back ??? - he would have but apparently the IB camp wouldn't want to share JM so it was a non-starter.

Quote...oh yes, and if you want to see what the boys were up to last Friday night, you could do worse than have a look at the shiny new photos on their MySpace page...

Looks like they went to the same field Jem & the boys did  - and the clouds were still the same!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nellie,
you're the best merch person since the last one!!!!!
One package arrived safe and sound with much Frost*age, just in time for Drumfest @ the NIA on Sunday - iPod listening and t-shirt sorted.
If anyone from here is going, do say hello. ;)

The intro tape bit has been up on LastFM, well it was there a few weeks ago at any rate - can't check from work.  :)

And yes KeithD, it is indeed very funny   8-)

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Nellie for putting up with us  ;)

We're a harmless enough bunch really, but given the scent of Frost* related merchandise, and the opportunity to help boost the coffers for further installments we all go a little bit mad!!!!

Nellie, if you're at any of the shows later in the year (sadly I can't make the Peel gig, but fingers crossed for some other dates in or near the Midlands) I'll glady furnish you with a 'thank you' drink!!!

Announcements / Re: Why dont we do a Marillion
July 05, 2009, 07:19:06 PM
I've mentioned this to Jem before, and as Nellie has pointed out, whilst the intention is good we are sadly probably too few in numbers to make such a venture a viable one. Mariallion can count on several thousand fans putting up cash for the albums but I doubt Frost* could guarantee the same sort of subscription.

Jem certainly knows the industry well enough to have other options and has waxed lyrical at some length about the possibilities for Frost* v3 being a much more organic project and disrubuited outside of the old 'record deal' model.

One thing is that Jem knows that although we may be few in numbers, we are big in voice!!

QuoteI think/hope the idea is that Jem can sell it more than once, rather than people bidding or missing out. One could probably encrypt each copy with a password that is Pm'ed to the buyer?
Can't stop the cheaters though, sadly.
Quote from: "Drarok"Well, I'm sure they could be copied, but where do you draw the line between piracy and sharing? :o

Looking at it reasonably tho' - would there be 'mass appeal' (ho ho) for the ProTools sessions, other than from members of this 'ere forum?? I'm taking it that there probably wouldn't and therefore the people that want them would be happy to pay as it will help keep Jem doing what we all love - making music.
