Hope all is lovely here. New job is fab but, er, rather busy.

Should have been as big as Tears for Fears. Only their cute bass player couldn't sing.

Quote from: "SussexProgMan"Try Riverside, Pure Reason Revolution & Dream Theater. Enochian Theory would be my off the wall choice and don't forget Touchstone, Big Elf & Opeth and a million and one others. Happy listening!

+1 for Pure Reason Revolution.  Latest album Hammer and Anvil is excellent, but last album  Amor Vincit Omnia is a bit more Frost-like, some heavy synth and guitar, with great harmony vocals

Yup. PRR's AVO is a total blinder. Pink Floyd and Steeleye Span meet Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails. Just brilliant album.

Quote from: "RacingHippo"I'll be coming fromSheffield, where I'll be in a Very Important Meeting with a Very Large Bank all afternoon, so
a) I'm not sure what time I'll get to Derby (It's supposed to end at 4, which means that at 4:10 I'll be drumming my fingers on the table. In 7/8.)
b) If I'm running late and don't have  time to change, my attire will have been decided for me, and will be somewhat more formal than the evening requires!

I turned up to Islington wearing an All Saints suit, and nobody seemed to notice. I don't know whether to be relieved or gutted...

Quote from: "LivingForever"I think Jem's keys were way too low in the mix too for TDL, which meant that at times all you could hear was drums and bass- with quiet Jem and quiet JM sounding like they might possibly have been in a different key for some of it.

(snip)

And the problems seemed to go away with the second song, after which they absolutely triumphed, to my mind!

That'll be after I went over and bollocked the sound guy then. :-)

I'm probably going to be there about 6:30 with a following wind...and blizzard.

Quote from: "LivingForever"There were only 2 Marillion songs and 1 Transatlantic song! Even a man of such high standards as you can allow us prog nerds that much...

 ;)

Never mind that, I seem to have accidentally ordered a pizza that is larger than my head!

Best of luck - sorry I'm off in Yorkshire at the time catching up with my folks.

I think the sound mix for it hadn't really settled down either - there were elements where you could see everyone was playing their bit but it just wasn't coming out coherently from the monitors. I think it just had too much going on for that setup.

But when it was good it was brilliant.

On the other hand, can I vote for keeping the (slightly more rehearsed) Dividing Line, and do far less Marillion and Transatlantic please?

Was the "hold on my heart" bit of the set for me that - too many V IV I songs. I know others mileage may vary.

Oooh, I'll tell her that. I believe there's a Dutch edition due out soon too - can anyone confirm?

As the poor fools that follow my twitter will know, my mum's got a new book out, and it's getting rather good reviews. So if you liked Philip Pullman, Philip Reeve or even that J.K. Rowling woman, then please pick up "A Boy Called MOUSE' for your inner (or real-life) 10-year-old.
