Just out of interest, which is the most accessible DT album to start on?...bearing in mind one prefers melody to vocal roaring!

Any Other Business / Re: Musical Cock-Ups

I'm with you...I actually like bum notes and mistakes at gigs! It gives the musicians a proper chance to smile and have a laugh. All too often bands are taking themselves so seriously they forget to smile or laugh and mistakes give them an excuse to do that.

In my time as a musician I've made more than my fair share of cock ups but two memorable ones:

When playing (and me singing) an Abba track, I forgot to do the second verse so it only lasted about 1.5 minutes.

Me playing and singing Mary's Prayer...went to the middle 8 in the wrong place. Completely threw the rest of the band, no one knew what to do, I looked like a rabbit caught in headlights...eventually after what seemed like an eternity the keyboard player started singing the right bit and everyone got back on track. I was a bag of nerves for the rest of the gig...horrible but oh, how I laugh about it now (not).  :D

Do you Sonarists think the upgrade to X1 is worth the hassle (and cost)? How did your upgrade go...was it traumatic?

Ours was a lot shorter than that!

Decided we fancied having a go at writing some songs.
Bought a Zoom multitrack thingy, decided it wasn't that useful and a DAW would be better.
Bought a DAW from Digital Village, an MBox, Sonar Producer 7 and a bunch of software.
Flogged the MBox cos it did my head in.
Purchased a Focusrite Saffire LE instead...much better  :D

The only issue now is having two small children and bugger all time/energy to get in the studio and write.

I think it's ok to wear your own shirt to gigs - nowt wrong with promoting ones self.

We've actually considered having "guitarist wanted" shirts made up and wearing them to gigs, seeing as we're struggling to find the right guitarist!

Quote(I know, Bunchakeze has nothing to do with monkeys...)

Isn't that that rather messy Japanese pastime popular with plasterers?

Yeah, me too.

Do you think we should all chip in for a Joey Jordison snare for him? Just to offset all that evangelical stuff otherwise the universe might fall out of balance.

Man - just imagine...I'd actually watch Strictly Come Dancing if they had a 'prog week'...that would be hilarious! :D

I like the video - I thought you all played your parts brilliantly. That said I did find the moments of out of synchness rather annoying - if you could fix those, it would be wicked.  :D

It's not that I'm taking it personally. It just seems to be adding to the sadness that he seems to be distancing himself from the Frost world rather than taking us with him, if that makes sense. It's probably not intentional, but that's the vibe it's giving off (to some anyway).

I think he's trying to disconnect and start anew. The first post or two were kind of talking to the people who previously followed him (us) but that last post seems to be almost like we're an ex-wife he's glad to be rid off.  :?
