Friends Of Frost* / A Beginner in the World of Music Production...
« on: October 30, 2012, 07:06:28 PM »
Ok so this is a bit of a thoughts and feelings blog.... so anyone not into that stuff I'd advise to press back now  ;)

Ok so at the beginning of this year I started learning to play the piano for the first time, something I've wanted to do for a long time but never really got the chance to do, due to having 2 autistic siblings, it was difficult for me and my parents to find the time and also neither of them have any musical background at all. I'm not looking for sympathy or anything, but I just wanted to show why I wasn't able to play from an earlier age.

I'm now 23 and been playing for a good near 8 months, and I have to say I LOVE playing it! And since then I've bought myself a Korg Digital Piano and started lessons in singing and music production... Ok where do the last 2 things fit in? You may be asking...

Well since I started learning the piano, I became more interested in the 'making of' side of making music. But it makes me think 'I wish I could have learned all this years ago!' You read about a lot of musicians these days and how they all started at an early age, which never really gives me a lot of confidence. However I watch the likes of Frost* Reports and they are truly inspiring to watch! And I don't mean this in a biased way... but watching Mr Godfrey work his magic into the songs for me is a really inspiring thing. To watch someone doing what he loves doing best, makes me want to keep learning and keep on aiming for my own goal.

My goal of which is just to be able to make songs that I can perform in front of an audience. Simple as that, just to genuinely make some music of my own creation. I would love to form a band, nothing massive just a local band and just for fun. I want to be able to do this before hitting 30 at least...

Is anyone else here in the Frost* world in a similar situation to this? Or perhaps anyone could share their wisdom in this matter? Does anyone think I'm being too ambitious in this late start in music?

I'm not looking for anyone to tell me how to cut corners as I want to learn the proper way!  ;) I know full well that this will take a lot of time and patience. But I would love to hear your thoughts in this matter!

Thank you for your time  :)

Toys / Off chance of finding certain Frost* tracks...
« on: October 22, 2012, 10:32:33 PM »
Another question within about a week!

Ok for this one it is a bit of an old subject but I've never been able to get hold of these tracks, but I believe its off the Rosfest CD I think? The one with Here is The News, Raining In My Heart, Snowman, The Forget You Song and so on. I was wondering if there was any chance of getting hold of these songs some how? I realise theres no chance of getting the CD nower days but really would love to get a copy of those songs as I am missing out on them badly.

If anyone could help me out, would really appreciate it  :)

Gear Corner / Synth enquiry
« on: October 19, 2012, 08:15:09 PM »
This is a question from an amateur so please bear with me  :D

I'm trying to look for a synth that has any sort of 'pre-loaded' sounds/ samples with a 'twinkly star' feel if that makes any kind of sense at all?

Would anyone know of any such thing? If anything like that exists at all? If anyone does would love to hear suggestions (preferably free  :P )

Moved from "Toys" 20/10/2012. It's a better fit in here, your likely to get more replies. jib.

Friends Of Frost* / The Beathovens - Me Myself and I Music Video
« on: October 10, 2012, 01:28:30 PM » ... ature=plcp

This is a music video I made over a year ago as my Final Major Project at University.

The Beathovens are an autistic band who are part of the Wirral Autistic Society. They won the Bumper "Liverpool Battle of the Bands" in 2007 and they have been featured on BBC Radio 4 and have played many gigs around the Merseyside area.

There is a lot more info on their myspace page here:

I was lucky enough to get in contact with these guys and explain about why I wanted to make a music video (my own personal reasons.)

The video itself is to bring more awareness about autism to the public.

These guys are amazingly talented, and watching perform was truely inspirational.

Would love to hear your opinions on this video  :)

Frost* / New Frostie 'Hi!'
« on: October 09, 2012, 05:12:57 PM »
Hello fellow Frosties!

I am a newbie to this whole Frost* forum thing so hopefully can get chatting with all the new Frost* banter that will emerge I'm sure!  :)

I got into Frost* about over a year ago and they have blown my mind with their musical genius with both Milliontown and Experiments In Mass Appeal! Becoming one of my favorite bands of all time!  :)  In fact Mr Godfrey is a big inspiration for me playing piano and making music to this day!

Speaking of which I have to admit I have respect for Jem for making each album sound different to the last. In my opinion I like the idea of bands experimenting and trying new things (I'm not necessarily saying it always works) but keeping an audience on toes until they've finally heard the album, whether in excitement or anticipation! This is just my opinion of course  ;)

I'm lucky enough to be going to the Frost*Bites gig in December, this will be my first Frost* live experience ever! One the things I'm looking forward to most this year! I've seen It Bites many times before, never one to disappoint! Another one of my favorite bands!

Hopefully see some of you at Frost*Bites!

Thank you for your time!
