Ask Frost* / Re: Question
August 12, 2010, 07:09:30 PM
Quote from: "Mouse"I'm still trying to decide what to do today, while the Darwin's Radio song The Illusion Is Freedom loops round and around in my head.

Wow, that's some working memory you have then! :D

Yeah... was just thinking... that + Frost* = ???

I'd imagine if it's a cover version, it'll be Jem's call as I'm fairly sure the song copyrights are his (though I guess there may be some arrangement with IO even there), using the original recording would involve IO though as the recordings on the CD are definitely their copyright for now. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong :D

The production does feel a bit... late 80s? I've no idea if that is deliberate or not, though given quite a bit of the material reminds me of Queensryche about that time... the electronic drums may also contribute.

It's a very fine album all the same, but...

Well, those bills don't pay themselves... hope it's all been suitably profitable and look forward to the coming madness :D

Hmm, £5 for Signals, £9.50 for Hold Your Fire, and £13.50 for Roll The Bones, £27.50 for R30 and £39 for Snakes and Arrows...

(Fairly linear actually apart from Snakes and Arrows which should have been about the £30 or £31 mark if trends had continued. But still, was well worth it :))

Ah yes... should have typed "a certain *other* mouse" in these forums shouldn't I? ;)

And yes, thanks for taking the time to do that Pedro, difference or not.

Whilst lawyers are no doubt involved, the ridiculous nature of modern copyright terms has a lot more to do with accountants me feels (and a certain mouse).

This is the sort of nonsense that gives copyright a bad name... (I mean, he's been dead 20 years and yet we are supposed to believe that society benefits from his estate still controlling things 68 years after he wrote it?)

Watched Florence, found myself rather enjoying Dizzie Rascal's set (not really my cup of tea, but was very entertaining), Muse of course, and a whole bunch of highlights of various acts. Not watched much of the Sunday stuff yet though.

The tag line was well chosen give it's the only possible response to all that... (well, not the only one obviously, but most other are probably best not committed to digital print :D)

Ooh... :)

1924? That's quite a period of silence.

Now if someone would only re-open Rosebank :)

Do I detect a hint of Queensryche in there? Among much else :)

Excellent stuff Mr Burke!
