Excellent stuff! Glad it all went well Jem, and looks like you all had a blast.

CD names? Experiments in Live Appeal is the blindingly obvious and therefore rather crap one...

Elephants in Maths Are Real?

I'm sure the clever chaps and chapesses round here will come up with something :)

Just need my copy to arrive now :D

Quite pleasant stuff that :) I rather like it... maybe for the same sort of reasons I liked Goldfrapp's Supernature... but whatever... good stuff :)

That's really cool Pedro :) And well deserved...

Interesting discussion...

I've always (well, after I started listening seriously anyway - I had some friends with eclectic tastes which helped, from Rush and Tull to Captain Beafheart, Gong and Hawkwind) liked music that was different. I think that's the real key - progressive music is anything that dares to think outside the box (in it's given musical epoch anyway).

And musicianship is also important (and that doesn't mean extremes of technicallity, that's an element, but hardly the whole enchilada), which may explain all the musicians here (of which I am not one, damn you talented people! ;)).

That Tom brought up dance music was interesting to me, as once I heard the sort of stuff going on in the underground scene in the late 90s, I was struck by how it often managed to transcend the limits of the format and felt more progressive as anything else going on at the time.

As to where all the many and varied strands of the modern (and not so modern) musical adventure that is progressive will take us next... I've no idea, but lets just hope it continues to inspire and surprise :)

Well, she's still not entirely keen, but did come up with this remarkably accurate description (which also captures why I like it and she doesn't).

"It's like Muse's follow-up to the musical Chess"

Hmm, not exactly the same as my thoughts on it (not got my copy yet, but did sneak a listen to someone elses...) - but I can see where she's coming from and the Muse part did cross my mind in places.

Waiting, but as it was a signed copy, not expecting it for a few days yet...

(No feedback yet either, but guess they are pretty busy :))

I hated morow when DT released Systematic Chaos (Terrible album...)

No way! Very good album, not as good as previous albums I'll give you that, but still very good (Especially In The Presence Of Enemies)

I'll second that Ecosse !
Just noticed you a fellow Scot and all that, were you at the Braehead Arena Gig?

Twas a good gig that, even if the venue wasn't that great. As for the album... I went through liking it lots and now it's more a now and again album... then again, a lot of DT is like that with me...
