Other Bands / Re: Chinese Democracy
November 20, 2008, 12:36:38 PM
Quote from: "Lerxst"Let me be blunt - I really dislike Guns and Roses, I've never liked them, think they and their guitarist was very overrated etc etc. Listening to first bar of Sweet Child of Mine makes me want to spontaneously combust.

For some crazy reason I decided to listen to "Chinese Democracy today" - it's being played on myspace as an exclusive before its released next week.

Well I'm frankly stunned because its frigging excellent and such a departure from GNR v1.0 - never thought I'd say this but I'm recommending as an essential purchase.

I need to sit down now....

I get what you mean, I'd never guess that was GnR! Very, very different from previous releases, but then again the band lineup is somewhat different too.

It wasn't me, I didn't do it nobody saw me do it you can't prove anything
we haven't even begun tp test the system, right, FastHost?
tp test? who is supplying?
Sure I'll supply some!
this tp is a bit too rough for my delicateness..
Delicatessen?  I could really go for a sub right now...
That sounds good, let's meat for lunch  :D
This is a quotation. It's the repetition of one expression as part of another one, particularly when the quoted expression is well-known or explicitly attributed (as by citation) to its original source. Aha.
Hmm, you sure about that? What's your source?
Wiki always speaks the truth. Especially here.
WHAT, he's not a moose whisperer anymore?
Did you know that Jem Godfrey is an anagram for "Gee My Fjord"?
What about "My Freed Jog"?
That's a propitious accusation.
When quoting, you can save vertical space by beginning your response right after the closing square bracket after the "/quote" tag without hitting <return>. This also makes a hyperquote more visually appealing and a teeny bit less annoying to some....
I've pruned the spare lines out of this one. The old forum gave some quite pleasant curves when this was done.  :)
And we all love pleasant curves don't we kids? ;)
That's really quite pleasing to the eye - a bit like a Bridget Riley painting.  Is colour preserved in quotes?
That would be a "yes" then.  ;)
Has all this not broken it yet??
No (two spare lines deleted)  :D
Numbering the quotees can help when trying to find the limit
I'm pleased to say it's still working perfectly on my  G1. And looking delightfully curvaceous, to boot.
30 Works OK for me. What was hyperquoting? & that should be 31
32 I can see that too - marvellous stuff! :D
this is some big ass quote
curvalicious
I filled in the missing numbaz!
...and I took out the blank lines!  ;)
and I just added another line with absolutely no meaning :D
and I added one more just because it's a while since I added another layer.
There was a missing number I just felt the need to fill in
Come on! Can't you think of something better to add than that?
Hey you missed mine out
He did - I saw him, and it confused me! : :?
That's odd. I'd have thought I'd have been notified about James' post when I submitted. Maybe it did and I thought I'd hit preview by mistake.
Apologies for any undue confusion, distress or genital warts caused.
Oh no... numbers... I hope I'm doing it right.
That looked right to me :)
Oh well, that's great. Lets see if I can do it again :)
Almost - you'd put the number after my name (now corrected) :D
Sssh!
Holy Sh*t, this thing is a monster, or rather a lion.  ;)
It's a good thing I have a  2560x1600 screen
Just tidying up some blank lions. Lines, I mean.
Who said Lions?
50 make that 51 lions!
This is Russian roulette; whoever makes the post that crashes it all wins a nice ban!  :D
well, it is making my screen go all widey...
1680x1050 resolution and it still stretches mine!
1024x768 here :(
Mines disappeared off the screen and won't scroll accross
Hence no quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote, quote,
Just assimilating Mikey's latest into the QuoteCore.
And we have officially reached a new level of madness
"One step beyond!"
Hmmmm, I can see the quote button when using the laptop, what number should this be?
61 ?, getting a bit fiddly, can still read the original though
Sorted now.
63 Thanks, arthritis & laptops don't mix
Noted. We can add it to the list:
  • Red wine
  • Arthritis
RAWK!
Roger - you're not saying that RAWK and laptops don't mix are you? I need my Frost*-Fix when staying in hotels when I'm away on business....
goodness, no!  it all mixes here!
68, Different PC, different view. As with the laptop I can still see all the quotes and access the quote button :D
I wonder when we're unable to read the first quote.
70 - This one could run  :D
Nope... Still see it. Let's try it again.
72 - What? more of this?
Bloody hell, this is tricky to follow after a mornings screen gazing... I think I managed a Ghost post above... I'll delete it.  :D

Still going!
74 no, don't delete it.
Does get to the eyes after a while
OK I won't!!  :) I think I quoted an older post, rather than the active one on the bottom... and there's nothing like an acti....   opps perhaps not!!
76 Looks like this is built on stronger biscuits
Yep. If it's going on the same biscuit rating, it's just made it to "A Fruity Garibaldi"
77 that was a good year!
Oops. Roger and I crossed posts. All back in place now.
yay!  and 80, the year I graduated high school!
So this must be 81... the year I was -12
I remember 81, I was 17! (and I think I'm not much older than that now, mentally :D)
Marsupial
No, bassoon.
85 Maybe we need rock cakes
86 That's my year!
87... The Joshua Tree
Wow, I'm proud at what this has become!
88: The year of my graduation*.

*Note to those over the pond: That's proper graduation - from University with a Bachelor's Degree in Science after 4 years' hard [-]drinking[/-] work, not "graduation" from school  :P
thank god for scroll wheels...
I wonder what the world record for hyperquoting is... :P
Not sure, why do you ask ?
I'm sure everyone is jockeying into position for number 100...
You might be right, there.
D'oh, I wanted number 93...
I'll swap you...?
Alas, my trusty G1 cannae take it nae more. It actually rebooted itself when I tried to view the previous page :?
Ooh - just noticed this up above the smiley-library:
Quote from: "The forum, when posting a reply"Enter your message here, it may contain no more than 60000 characters.
We're currently at 11,584 characters, so that's 48,416 to go before we have to abandon the experiment...
I thought only Hobbits hyperquoted?
I guess this is 100 :D
Guess so, carry on quoting
Quote.
Should n't that be "quote"?
now that's a hyperquote!
WOW, this has gotten biiiig
Quite!
It seems to have a life of it's own, depending which screen I'm using. Can't access the quote button on one screen but it's OK on this.
So, how long before we brake it?

Quote from: "RacingHippo"Ooh, ouch.
Happy belated birthday, and I hope that wasn't your drinking arm....

Yes, it was   It still bloody hurts, I must have hit it a lot harder than I originally thought. At least the concussion has gone and the cuts and scrapes are healing nicely.

Ouch... I'm really shocked to hear this... :(
I ordered two special editions (one for a friend), two shirts and a Tour CD...

£59.00

My order was received at 28/10/2008, paid at 31/10/2008 and I still haven't got anything...  (I DID get an order confirmation though. (But no post confirmation...))
At first I thought it's due to the fact that I'm living in the Netherlands... But now I read this.. :(

I will send an email to CRS right away.
Is there anything else I should do?

-Paco

Hello Paco, you should PM JJJ or TLD. They are very busy but should sort you out.

Probably right, but then it's facebook, nobody knows how that works, not even the founders or programmers   Let alone the users :D
