If you guys did that last year on the same dates I would have been around!

That is going to be one helluva concert.

Any Other Business / Re: The theme of this year is blue.

Cool Blues - Charlie Parker
Bluebird - Charlie Parker
Blue Eyes - Elton John
Blue Train - John Coltrane
Stranger Blues - Roomful Of Blues
The Walkin' Blues - Royal Crown Revue
The Blues Machine - Sammy Nestico and the SWR big band
Blue 7 - Sonny Rollins

Hm, I guess I don't have any 'blue' prog. That's all jazz with the obvious exception of Sir Elton John.

Friends Of Frost* / Re: ACID!
February 20, 2009, 08:31:28 PM
I don't really have the money of the pro skillz for pro tools (Yay college), and even if I did, I'm an amateur musicians at best and  horrible noob at worst. Still, Acid is a lot of fun to use for me. Hopefully I can get an actual recording mic (Shure SM57 I'm thinking) and start recording some of my own stuff for real. Who knows, I may even go big and buy Acid 7 Pro :P.

I only put this thread in Friends of Frost* because I had a song to show off-ish :P.

Friends Of Frost* / ACID!

Does anybody here use Acid Xpress or Acid pro? I just got Acid xpress since I haven't used it since version 5.0 (back when I was a music newbie).

So I just got Acid 7 and reactivated my acid account (it's really a great system- you can publish stuff directly from the program to your profile page on the acid website), and I got all these random loop sample things. So I threw together a song quickly 'cos I had nothing else to do. Me and my friend had quite a few laughs putting this together (there was nothing we put in there that DIDN'T fit!). Note; I didn't record anything, these are all just samples that I put in tracks. Also, I don't know ANYTHING about production or mixing or anything of that nature. I just know to hit the record button when I need too.

Clickity-click for the song. Hit Acid 7 Test 2 and ignore anything else.

Quote from: "rogerg"
Quote from: "Mickdoo22"boutique amps

there's just something wrong with this phrase.  it just doesn't say "rock and roll" to me.

Au Contrare, Boutique amps are the rockin'-est of 'em all!

I would want a Framus Cobra or a Mesa MKV. As it is, I have a Laney LH50-II which still kicks the living daylights out of any solid state amp (I'm talking about you, Line 6 Spider III) and even most tube amps.

So here's another version of HITN. It sounds great...

I think this just says that HITN is a hard song to cock up. I only found it while browsing through all the Frost* reports earlier today. It put a big ol' smile on my face.

How exciting! Those were some sick skills in that first clip.

Can't wait to see what's coming out of the horizon for Frost*. 2009 is a break year though right?

Awesome thanks!

Now it's time to learn the entire piano part...

...on guitar.

The treble part of course.

Ask Frost* / Re: Song Meanings?

I had always thought Dear Dead Days was about a little girl that was kidnapped by some creeper and mentally scarred/traumatized by the ordeal.

What about Pocket Sun and Welcome to Nowhere?

Gear Corner / Mesa Boogie Mark V; for the guitarists!

This thing is pretty sexy.

Details about the amp here.

I hear it's going to cost about $2,000, which is a good deal considering the amount of amp you're getting.

Toys / Falling Down MIDI...kinda
January 18, 2009, 04:25:59 AM
This is totally my first foray into writing out music by ear, so please don't tear me a new one for being a total newb.

It's kind of rough as of yet, but I'm still working on it. I did it in 4/4 with all 16th notes. The second measure to me doesn't always sound right, and the second arrpegiated chord thinger I'm not so sure about.

Have fun?

I've always wanted to play in my school's full orchestra.

Unfortunately, the classical snobs in the past deemed the saxophone "inappropriate" for classical settings.

Yeah, right.

Good luck teaching nubs how to REALLY play the drums!

And please do drop by every once in a while.

Toys / Request for hyperventilate score
January 11, 2009, 02:14:23 AM
I remember people were trying to work out Hyperventilate, among other songs. I've searched all over both forums and can't seem to find what had been completed thus far. Does anybody still have a copy of it??

Also, We should really consolidate all the songs we're trying to figure out by ear. There seem to be a lot of them and many of them seem to get lost in the annuls of the interwebs.

I saw this commercial earlier and was sorely confused at the giant asterisk plastered all over the place.
