Gear Corner / Re: Pro Tools 11
April 08, 2013, 02:42:17 PM
They're saying it'll be available May 28th. Which is fine by me as I need time to save for a new Mac.
The reality has finally sunk in that my black Macbook will be 7 years old this June
with only 2 gig RAM and unsupported for 10.8.X. Pro Tools 11 farts in my general direction.

I'm excited though!!! It appears everything I've wanted and more is finally here. I've always used Logic
for my song writing and pre-production but I can see myself doing more projects start to finish in Pro Tools 11
in the future. I'll wait to see what Logic X will offer on that end.

For now a few plugins and Vi's still have to be ported to AAX - Waves SSL, Omnisphere, EZ Drummer
so I'm not too bothered by having to wait anyway.

Thanks Peeps!!! I haven't stopped by here in a little while. Things have been crazy!
A lot has transpired the past 7 months, the biggest being I started a new day job after
15 years it was time for a change.

for the first time in my life I can say I like my day job. The money is better the hours are good
and I have weekends off for my musical projects!

Anyhoo I still keep up on the news and have been following Jem's Blogs. Looking forward to the
DVD!! sign me up!!!

Happy belated to you sir Titan!!!

Other Bands / Re: Albums ruined by poor mastering
April 27, 2012, 11:27:33 PM
Pretty much everything by The Mars Volta but especially the last 3 albums.
The most recent one "Noctourniquet" just does my head in. Not only the mastering
but the music as well. The music of their earlier efforts makes up for it though
especially "Frances The Mute"

Thanks to you all my frosty mates! I was just looking back at last years post and although the year
started off rough things are coming around and it's a much happier b-day this year. The one thing
I've disliked is that being in February it's usually cold and snowy but our winter here in upstate NY
has been abnormally warm with well below snowfall. I woke up to a dreamy picturesque looking
winter wonder land, that fresh new snowfall clinging to the trees and a bright clear sunrise.

Indeed there will be celebrations coming as I have the weekend off from work and indeed
there will be cake and perhaps even some PIE!

Happy Happy joy joy to you Titan as well. I hope it's all things awesome for you!

Beniot David is out due to illness and Jon Davidson of Glass Hammer will be replacing him
for the next leg of the Fly From Here Tour.

Other Bands / Mark Kelly semi-lost hearing
February 06, 2012, 03:57:52 AM
Just read this unfortunate news on the DPRP news page.

Apparently something happened while he was scuba diving on a recent vacation.
he's having tests done but nothing definitive yet as to the cause. His left ear is
really messed up apparently.

He has started a blog to record and update everyone on his current state.

http://markke11y.blogspot.com/

I sure hope he gets better. It's the worst thing that can happen to any musician and as one myself
I have to only think about how I take things for granted and wonder if I should be doing more
to protect myself.

Thoughts and well wishes and vibes going out to him :(

Nice job!

If you folks ever to decide to do another one count me in!
I just revamped my entire studio and it's wired and ready to go. If life wasn't so crazy the past year
I certainly would have pitched in.

Really diggin Nathan's bass! I used to own a Status however it was a 4 stringer and headless.
His is way cooler 8-)

If I may ask...where is sir Declan of Burke? I assume he had other commitments?
Please tell me he's still in the game at this point!?.....

Normally I'm the optimistic type but I have to be honest and say I'm not too excited about this news.
I saw the clips of them playing shows last summer and I just don't think Ted's voice fits with their sound.
Jimmy is a fine drummer though and I can see him filling not only Nick's drumming shoes but
his backing vocals as well. The writing direction is gonna undergo a major change me thinks.

I do wish them the best of luck though. I hope they do well for themselves. Losing Neal was one thing
but Nick was the backbone IMHO and it just won't be the same without his vocals.

Gear Corner / Re: Building the stage for the Genesis tour
November 01, 2011, 12:31:59 AM
I saw this show a little while back. I went to that very Giants Stadium show and to see the stage
in person give you a whole new appreciation. It was awesome to see it being built but too bad
it only lasted for half of the show.
