Other Bands / Re: Rush - Beyond the lighted stage

I grabbed the DVD last week and watched it over the holiday. Really great stuff!
Having read all of Neil's books I especially loved the bonus feature of him talking
about traveling on motorcycle. I liked the footage of Alex and Geddy going back
to their old school and to where they played their first shows.

What really sucks is when you have a HD crash and loose that important data
and find that you can't go back to it later! It happened to me once and I learned
from that mistake. I spent forever recreating my effects chain and then I had to try
and figure out what notes I was pulling out of my arse at the time I recorded it.

Frost* / Re: Nice! (new blog post)

Wow this is even more exciting than the tornado that almost plowed into me
driving home from work last night!

I am very excited to hear of the news about all things Frost coming in the future!

(yes seriously the tornado was exciting to witness!)

Now I shall have to go and play TPE now...

I like my Axioms. I have the 25 and the 61 and both are the older version.
Of all the controllers that I tried in person at my local music store, the Axiom
had the best action.  I'm not of the playing caliber as Jem or Mr. Reed would be
but it works and feels absolutely fine for my needs which are mostly for tracking
softsynth stuff in Logic/PT.

My only regret is not waiting as the Axiom Pro's came out just after buying my 61.
The software control on them looks really easy to use. Some day I will upgrade.

I haven't had a chance to listen all the way through but I can easily say that I love it!
I popped the DVD in right away and loved every minute of the Frost report especially
the stuff with Jordan and when the entire band is together for rehearsals.

I've only heard half of the first cd, but it's pretty much a given that I love the entire set.
I like the changes to Falling Down and the mix sounds huge and superb. I also love the
packaging with the clear double thick case. It makes it much more substantial and solid.
(not that Digipacks are bad either btw)

Beautiful day for a walk to the post office. I found the yellow greeting card in the mailbox indicating I have
a package waiting for me. YAY!

You can imagine my smile as the post office woman handed me that beautiful green bag of FROST*y love
and I duly picked up my pace walking home as the winds picked up before an oncoming thunderstorm!

YAAAY!!!

I shall pop it in my Macbook and enjoy the day off listening and watching.
I will post in the Ashlease thread soon on my thoughts.

P.S. LOVE the packaging!!!

Gear Corner / Re: USB to MIDI converters

Quote from: "rogerg"how about using a double-ended female usb cable, effectively reversing the cables, which might allow you to go into a midi-adapter from the nano-key?

damn, sometimes things are hard to explain with words!   :?

I know exactly what you are talking about. I bought a little kit that has a bunch of adapters but
it only has a female on one end and a mini female on the other and nothing to convert back or
a way to convert to a midi cable.

The only issue I see is the fact that the Nano's are all powered via USB.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the midi spec doesn't allow send/receive power no?
Then also the data would have to be sent to the buss and converted? I'm not well versed
in electronics so I'm only shooting in the dark here. If only modern keyboards had true USB
utility ports instead of for a flash memory stick or a mouse a la Fantom's

It looks like the Transformer of keyboard stands   Hopefully it won't launch off the stage and fly away.

I have the original Apex here. Quite solid, built like a tank.

Yikes! First the SB X is botched, now TPE, Dec's album has delays.

Is everyone using the same manufacturer? It sounds like a conspiracy!  ;)
