Friends Of Frost* / "One talented gent" in our midst
December 11, 2010, 11:45:09 AM
Edition 97 of the European Perspective features a remix of Tinyfish's "Nine Months on Fire" by none other than our very own Mouse.  No doubt he's too modest to say this, but according to Wilf he's doing the whole thing in 5.1

Mouse over (do you see what I did there?) to

Prog's revolving doors get another spin as Mark Westworth struggles to balance family, full time job and "prog nonsense".

Last gig will be 11 December in London

I see now that Twang flagged this one up back in July in another thread and I missed it.

Booked the ticket now - can't wait!

How prog can you get?

It all sounded a bit bizarre, but having gone to Cropredy for the first time last year and enjoyed great weather, the announcement that Mr Wakeman was going to appear with (remnants of) the English Rock Ensemble was too good to miss.  After all, his was the first concert that I went to in 1976.  Sadly the weather was a bit crap this year (mini-tornado and thunderstorm), but as the Easy Stars All-Star reggae band finished their take on Sgt Pepper (no, really, it was good) I prepared to elbow my way to near the front.  I shouldn't have been surprised that the crowd disappeared and I found myself at "stage Pedro" by the barrier at the front.

I'm biased but it was brilliant.  Ashley Holt was in good voice and Lee Pomeroy took a break from Take That and It Bites to do a great job.  The folk crowd booed at the end - because they didn't have time for an encore!

Anyway here's a snippet from near the end of Starship Trooper.  I have a weakness for fast fingered keyboard players..

Other Bands / Carpark North
May 22, 2010, 08:27:44 PM
Dec mentioned this band in his interview with Wilf and the 3 tracks that Wilf then played were good, so I've had a listen to the first 2 albums on Spotify and bought the downloads (HMV for £3.99 each).

Good stuff - some real earworms.

BUT impossible to find the third album "Grateful".  If anyone can point me in the direction of a value download, then I'd be "grateful".

They've now signed to Sony, so it could be downhill from here, although the last 2 singles "Just Human and "Lost" suggest otherwise.

Thank you Dec.....

Other Bands / Rick Wakeman at Hampton Court
January 01, 2009, 06:06:01 PM
Had to think about this one before buying my ticket and posting this one, but Rick's website recently announced that he'd be performing the "Six Wives" at Hampton Court in early May.

Follow the link if you're interested:

I know he's not everyone's favourite keyboard player and the tickets look a bit pricey, but he's the reason that I got into "prog" in the first place, and when I met him a few years ago he was a top bloke.  So I'm happy to top up his pension.

Announcements / FROST* breaks into the Top 100!
November 17, 2008, 10:19:13 PM
Just had a look at the emusic chart for downloads "today" to find EIMA at no 93 and at no 29 in "New Albums"

Also the most popular "Inside Out" album - Symphony X had been there for ages.

Must be impatient Forum members who can't wait for tomorrow's post?

Ask Frost* / What will you be doing on release day?
November 10, 2008, 08:44:06 PM
Question for Frost* (plus Frosties as well)

Working on Monday 17th being the proper day for celebration, I offer you:

+ nursing hand injuries having signed so many copies for Forum members?
+ back to the day job?
+ shooing away Prog journalists from the Cube?
+ attending a biscuit party hosted by Lord Inside Out?

Other suggestions welcome.
