Gigs / Frost* at Summer's End
« on: January 17, 2017, 03:08:05 PM »
In case you didn't notice Pedro's addition to the gig list, Frost* will be headlining Summer's End festival on Saturday. I know that a lot of the Leap Of Faith tickets have already been sold so if you're planning to go, don't hang about.

Ahoy me Hearties!
I've been told that there aren't many cabins left so, if you're undecided about where to holiday next year, snatch one up quick to see our boys play on the Black Pearl. Rumour has it that Milliontown is being prepared for this very occasion!
Reports coming in that previous years have been a hoot and all sorts of goings on in the riggin'.
Yo ho ho etc......

Maybe across the pond?

I need to look into this. I have nudged the RosFest and Cruise people but with no luck yet. A proper tour would be a bit of a nightmare with visas and logistics but I know the boys would love to tour the States.

If you are no social media of any kind, please spread the word about the gigs. It would be nice to sell out these shows :-)

9th April - The CItadel, St Helens because it's in between Manchester and Dublin.
That could be too close to Easter for me, any more he says rather hopefully?
These are in addition to the shows this year. There won't be any more in the UK for a while.

Gigs / 3 more shows

There are lot more Frost*ies than we thought wanting to see the band live sooooooooooo, we've booked 3 more gigs in the UK in April 2017.
Tickets are on sale now at The Merch Desk and soon from the venues (except Edinburgh).
Don't let me down by not going after making so many complaints  ::)

Dates are
6th April - The Brook, Southampton because there wasn't one down south last time.
8th April - The Liquid Room, Edinburgh because there wasn't enough room last time.
9th April - The CItadel, St Helens because it's in between Manchester and Dublin.

Any Other Business / Re: TA, our own Prog God

I have to say that I think Frost* were in the wrong category. If the album had been in album of the year, I think it would have won. I have no idea why they were in Band of the Year.
I am invited every year because The Merch Desk sponsors the letters page. I know some people get upset about not being invited but it's largely a corporate event and the sponsors and labels have to "buy" tables. It's then down to them who gets invited, not the magazine. The magazine invites the winners and even then the tickets are limited.
TA did very well with his speech and even better to tag along to the Crobar. It was a great night and hopefully the boys will get a gong for the next album.
BTW, I was wearing an evening dress, not a ballgown! ;-)

Something to take into consideration as far as the capacity of venues is concerned and a point that the venue quite rudely pointed out. They sell out the 200 capacity on a regular basis but their normal audience is not prog, who as we know are generally rather larger than the average sizing.
If I look at t-shirt sizes, a 2XL is 4 times as much fabric as a small at least.
Here is my reply to an email received today.......

The capacity for The venue is set by the council at 212 people. We sold 195 tickets and had a few people as guests of the band. I was informed by the venue that some people didn't turn up on the night so in fact it was under capacity and so there were no breaches of regulations. Demand dictates that Frost* will indeed require a bigger venue next time but this particular venue is purpose built for live music, it is not someone's front room.
There was plenty of space by the bar and we had opened the stairs for people to stand if they couldn't see. An announcement was made for people to shuffle in a bit to make room for those who were waiting to come in, which they did, and we ensured that no-one was left outside.

Frost* / Tour T-Shirts & Posters
« on: August 02, 2016, 06:09:57 PM »
We ran out of a lot of sizes of t-shirts towards the end of the tour. I'm ordering some more so if you missed out or want one anyway, here's the link to the shirts and somewhere on the site you'll find the signed tour posters, too.

There was a wedding in the church next to the park so there was a halt for music which meant that the boys' set was cut short.

I have to give a big round of applause to the band's sound man Dave Pickering. Every night the sound was spot on which helps enormously when stuff get so n t'interweb.
Well done Fogey for filming so much. I bet your arm aches now  ;-D :o
