January 09, 2013, 01:14:26 PM
Just tried following the Blog link off the www.frost-music.co.uk front page only to be told by Blogspot that the blog doesn't exist but "jemgodfrey" is available to register.

Frost* / 12 days of Progmas
December 14, 2011, 10:48:15 AM
I know this isn't really Frost*, but it's generic and xmassy so what the hell... Some of you may have seen this last year, but it's been updated for 2011 and is too good to miss.

Who said prog bands have no sense of humour?

Merry xmas all.

Wow! Simply - wow!

It's a shame we never got a Jem-comment about this one - I'm sure it would have been very positive.

I wonder if we could get Frost* to actually play this version live? That would be something to hear.

Any Other Business / It Bites
July 16, 2010, 05:08:06 PM
Does anyone know what's happening in It Bites land at the moment? Their website and forum appear to have been down for a couple of weeks.

Just a "shot in the dark" here as I know many of you are also IB afficionados and may have some info.

Cheers

Was it a real oboe, then? Not a clever keyboard sound?

I love that bit

Agree with all that's been said. I do however, have a very minor gripe:

I guess it comes down to CD pressing problems again, but the CD seems to have CD-player-compatible named tracks on it (which is good) so when I stick it in my car stereo it tells me which song I'm listening to. Unfortunately, they seem to be named "track 1", "track 2" etc.

As one of the aforementioned people who have had difficulty with IB merch I can add some solid info:

I bought a copy of "The Tall Ships" from a gig merch stand when it was re-issued by InsideOut and had a bonus track. I then found that the bonus track skipped horribly on my CD player and wrote to the band via the forum. The CD was replaced, but it took almost 3 months to happen.

At a different gig (the OATW tour last autumn), I bought a t-shirt where the logo started to flake after just one wash. Again, the t-shirt was replaced, but I had to wait until the next tour where I could get to a merch stand (almost 6 months later). I did correspond with VitaminP on the matter who was quite responsive initially, but I think the difficulty came where he had to talk to the IB merch merchants to get a t-shirt out of them.

Lastly the TIJ saga. I ordered my copy on first the day that orders were possible. They stated "allow 28 days". After 28 days I started writing to them. I got an initial response fairly quickly, but all communications then dried up until this week (almost three weeks after the first response). The matter is now resolved - I have my CDs and an apologetic t-shirt (wearing it as I type).

I've been given to understand that IB are using someone external to handle their shipping and it obviously isn't working very well. Hopefully they'll find a better agency for the next release, which I guess will be the DVD that was filmed a few months ago.

To be quite honest - they've resolved eveyrthing for me, it's just taken an age. What they really need to do is clone Nellie  ;)

Just got the Robin2's regular gig magazine:

Sunday 5th December, Frost plus support from "Unto Us". I'm guessing that's gonna have something to do with the announcement. Possibly also (from the same source):

"Abandoning the album format altogether, the band have moved entirely online, releasing tracks regularly via the net and playing just a handful of very special, select gigs during the year".

The electric violin thing is the one thng in the TDL line-up that confused me - isn't JM a bit of a whizzo violinerist when he's not playing guitar, singing, producing records, playing keys, bass and sailing boats?

Hello all,

I'm sure most of you know this already and it may have also been covered in other threads elsewhere on this forum - apologies if it has - but It Bites have just released a new recording of their 1986 hit Calling All the Heroes in order to raise money for the Cumbria Flood Relief charity.

The recording features the band themselves (including a certain John Mitchell), Francis Dunnery, Various members of Marillion, Asia, Yes and The Buggles and a chap by the name of Jem Godfrey.

In order to raise the profile of both the band and the charity, there's a big push to try and get the single to chart. If anyone who's interested and can spare a few pennies would be good enough to purchase a download between now and Saturday 6th March then it's possible we can get some prog in the charts!

Downloads are available from www.itunes.com and from www.amazon.co.uk. Search for "Calling All The Heroes" and make sure you get the one for the charity and not the original 1986 version.

You'll be looking at an outlay in the region of 89p for the MP3 or £1.69 for the video.

Thanks, all
Dean
