Frost* / Christmas AGM Peel Gig - Question...
November 03, 2011, 11:31:35 PM
As I mentioned some time ago, Mrs One and I have tickets for this splendid forthcoming event.

However, there is a spanner teetering precariously above many whirring parts.

The redoubtable Mrs One, bless her is going to have some surgery at the end of November that will end up with her a) with both feet in casts and b) on crutches.

As things stand at the moment my good lady is still fairly determined to come, but knowing that this is probably an all standing affair, I need to know of those nice people at the Peel will be able to accommodate her with the provision of a seat or something that still allows her to actually see what's going on (and in her words, behave badly)

Waddya reckon?

I am really pleased to announce that my debut CD Fantasy Bridge is now also available from http://themerchdesk.com/ - a venture created by the inimitable Nellie.

Seeing Fantasy Bridge there alongside albums by such prog luminaries as Frost* It Bites, Kino, John Mitchell and arK is a massive buzz.  Thanks Nells.

Saw The Reasoning supported by Also Eden at The Fleece last Thursday.

Both bands rather excellent I have to say.  I think Rachel is fitted with springs!

Other Bands / Question for other artists/bands
July 04, 2011, 11:55:48 PM
For those of you in a band...

What do you think about wearing your own band/artist/album t-shirt to other people's gigs?

Simply a promotional tool or just a bit naff?

Tonight I'm having a launch party, with a bunch of invited friends, to celebrate the launch of my first CD..  I've got together some friends, some of whom were involved in the album project, one of whom wasn't, and we are playing about 60% of the album live, after what seem like too few rehearsals!!!!

The CD will be for sale on my website tomorrow all being well.

www.markonemusic.co.uk

and iTunes when I can sort out who to distribute it.

I know I haven't played in a band properly for about 20 years, but right now a bunch of butterflies are having a proper punch-up somewhere in my stomach.

It's ridiculous.  I know pretty much everyone going.  It's not like they are a bunch of strangers. But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be much more nervous is it was the O2.

A n y w a y...

I'll post up some photos, and let you know how we got on!  :?

Gear Corner / Boss VE20 vocal processor
May 06, 2011, 11:28:03 AM
Got a new toy! Yay!

Currently in rehearsals for my CD launch gig  and decided I needed to do something extra in the vocals department, so I got me one of these:

http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetai ... uctId=1043

Kewel!

Now I can have 3 part harmonies, or doubles, or 3x or even 6x unsion, plus reverb, delay, compression, all at the tap of the foot.

Yay!

Oh, and to my surprise and joy, it's a looper too!

... did I mention Yay! ? :?

Gear Corner / E-Drums for Christmas!
December 27, 2010, 02:00:08 PM
Well! The big surprise in the One household was that I got an Alesis DM5 drumkit for Christmas.

I had talked vaguely about fancying a kit months ago, and how every proper studio had a drum kit in it, but the I forgot all about it.  What a brilliant surprise.

Now, As a keyboard player, I can't play drums.  Well up until yesterday I hadn't really ever tried. Other than programming a drum track from the keyboard.

I have made it make some noises, and I'm holding some kind of beat, (and occasionally dropping the sticks - Yeah that's really funny isn't it!)

Anyone suggest some basic foundation tutorials I should be looking at, exercises I should start to learn?

Ask Frost* / DOTR - Jem's stage position
October 11, 2010, 11:27:57 AM
I couldn't help noticing that your position on stage left wasn't as well serviced by the lighting crew as Mitchell, Pete T and Blunders.

Was this planned, or is it the lot of the keyboard player to end up in the dark part of the stage. (When I was in a band, they always shoved me off into the dark corner, but I always assumed that was because they hoped I wouldn't be seen! LOL)

Still a magnificent, bonkers, wonderful night

Other Bands / Hiromi

I'd heard about her, but never sought out the music until today, because I thought - Jazz, nice, but...  However, someone pointed me at this Youtube:

Hell's Bells she's good.

Just spent lunch listening to some of the other stuff there.  That girl can play.
