Ask Frost* / Jem....
July 19, 2010, 12:28:03 AM
I have been letting myself get a little moist at this

OH. MY. SWEET. BABY. JESUS. NUTSACK. This 'Dark Horse' mix is, like, Noisia on steroids. I'm floored. It's INCREDIBLE!

Am I allowed to assume (as I may already have done) that this is you?

So yes. This is why we're patient Jem, you take the time that's needed to put out AWESOME stuff for us to happily hand over our pennies for and capitalise superlatives =)

From the excellent 'Encounters with Remarkable Biscuits' blog, a proposal...

QuoteThere have been many lengthy essays on & much discussion on the dunking of biscuits: which are the best varieties, can it be carried out in company, should it be tea, coffee or even milk.

I would like to propose the non-dunk dunk as an alternative.

Take a large bite of whichever biscuit turns you on at the time but please DO NOT CHEW, then take a large slurp of whichever beverage is rocking your boat, and there you have it, the equivalent of the dunked biscuit without any of the glares of shocked polite society or the risk of a pile of soggy rich tea down the front of your jummy.

Result! Admittedly you lose that certain frisson of excitement that you get with a full frontal dunk, but sometimes need must!

Ms B

I find this works wonderfully with things like tea and ice-cream, and hot apple pie with squirty cream (probably shouldn't mention 'squirty' with that thread title   sorry!)

Your thoughts, dear Frost*ies

Just found this guy on YouTube, I figured some of you chaps might be interested in some of his quite unique approaches to electronic music and what he calls controllerism. As an example, here's a video about his new CD that has some VERY interesting packaging...

Frost* / Named: The UK's Deadliest Biscuit
September 10, 2009, 10:29:17 AM
Just thought everybody should be made aware of these shocking developments.

A research company has calculated the biscuit most likely to cause someone an injury during a tea or coffee break.

The custard cream was found to be the UK's most dangerous snack, on the basis of something called the Biscuit Injury Threat Evaluation.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the research was carried out by Mindlab International at the request of the chocolate biscuit bar Rocky. Mike Driver, Marketing Director for Rocky said: "We commissioned this study after learning how many biscuit related injuries are treated by doctors each year."

Accidents have included people poking themselves in the eye with a biscuit, falling off a chair while reaching for the tin, sustaining burns after dunking a biscuit in scalding tea, and being hit by fragments flying through the air.

Other people have reported choking on crumbs and damaging a tooth or filling on a particularly hard biscuit. One unlucky person ended up stuck in wet concrete after wading in to pick up a stray biscuit.

Mindlab International director Dr David Lewis explained the background to the research.

"We tested the physical properties of 15 popular types of biscuits," he said, "along with aspects of their consumption such as 'dunkability' and crumb dispersal."

According to Mindlab's calculations, here is the full list of the UK's riskiest biscuits, together with their 'danger' rating:

Custard Cream 5.64
Cookie 4.34
Chocolate Biscuit Bar 4.12
Wafer 3.74
Rich Tea 3.45
Bourbon 3.44
Oat Biscuit 3.31
Digestive 3.14
Ginger Nut 2.99
Shortbread 2.90
Caramel Shortcake 2.76
Nice Biscuit 2.27
Iced Biscuits/Party Rings 2.16
Chocolate Finger 1.38
Jaffa Cakes 1.16

Be careful out there biscuit lovers!

Yeah I've been pretty disappointed with this whole '80's revival' thang but I've just been listening to these and I have to admit they are fantastic, a real modern sounding throwback but very cool IMO.

Ask Frost* / Day Job
July 30, 2009, 07:36:16 PM
Jem

I am just listening to some XYP and its turned into a bit of a guilty pleasure, especially 'Confessions'; didn't you help write that and a couple of others of theirs? Anyhow. The question I had and had for a while tbh was is there any of your 'dayjob' stuff that you would go 'definitely listen to that' since really a lot of us are quite ignorant of that side of the musical world, and not always for the better?

Cheers mate =)
