Well nothing so far but I am in the making of a band with 2 university friends. Slow at the moment as we only formed a few weeks prior to easter and now we're all back at our homes for the break.

If we get something done it'll get posted somewhere on this forum  ;)

That's alright old biscuit. Just out of curioisity, what baand is it you play with. Or if you're solo what moniker do you go by?

I too bought their ep at Wolvo  :D

I'll be getting this album too.

I think he means that you can buy something and then go off it straight away, leaving you with a bit of wasted money. I think.

Yeah I'm happy with the hats. They're bright and crisp and cheery  :D

Hippo I caught your Kino cover, was good and got a good look at your kit too.

I'll do a cover one day. Maybe.

So a drummer can understand?

I may be a drummer but I'm learning, just give me time  ;)
I remember that being one reason why I went for the XL, the fact that the patches were just guesswork. Not a great starting place for a starter to start. Plaice.

P.s.

Could very well be the Bad Girl patch

 What's the sound Boswell? :P

The presets I find myself using by default are the Wheel Ld, Organ and the splendidly named Bad Girl  ;)

I agree Mapex really are spectacular.
I'm really liking the whole idea of naming 14 snares such as Phat Bob, Phantom, Velvetone etc It's really giving me the urge to collect them all. Good marketing scheme by mapex there.

As for cymbals, oh I know about the personal preference. Seems to be the case for any instrument. I currently have aa HHX Evolution 16" crash, 20" HH rock ride, 8" paragon splash and some 14" xs20 hats. Would it be wise to upgrade the hats before I get another crash? The xs20 are cast and don't give the sound of cheap brassy cymbals so I'm not too worried at the moment. I might go for AA hats in the future and an AAX (perhaps studio) crash.

Then I'll have one of every range Sabian does

Well pipe up then fellow drummers. I know there's a few of you lurking here.

I myself am a drummer of 7 years being a teacher for one of those. My kit consists of a Mapex M Birch (which I bought precisely two weeks before the new Meridian line replaced it) and an array of Sabian cymbals and cheaper Stagg cymbals for experiments (stacks etc).

I'm currently looking into a secondary crash but would like to know if anyone has any advice to advise me with.

Also the 14 new Mapex snares. Any one got one? I quite like the sound of the fast back.

And I'd hate to be chatting bout all this here acoustic-y stuff on such a wondrous synthic-y forum.

So the Korg Wavedrum? Yes it's back if you hadn't heard  :D

Indeed brother. I find myself, most likely as with many of you here, fascinated by sounds/noises/audible sugar and drums are such a basic instrument, in terms of sound generation, that they just don't always satisfy.

I agree running drums through different filters is a bit of a laugh.

Oooh and soundscapes.

Although the retro prog synth sounds that sometimes emanate from Judess or Jodfrey are pretty good, I'll never be reaching that level.

Well I'm a drummer first you see and for something like £200, that gets me a nice big metal circle which can make 3 sounds.
But with keyboards it can get you so much more interesting options

Oh and I suppose being a student doesn't really help financially.

Well this is nice.

Its really not the gloom coloured caverns that the old forum used to be but its nice.

Not sure about the new lol emoticon though. I preferred the one with the out-of-control lips  ;)

Well looks like I bidded on a MicroSampler on good old ebay and while tossing and turning in bed (mostly tossing) thinking about it, I missed the bid retraction time by 3 minutes.

So looks like I might be buying one after all

Another change of heart.

I really don't need it. Or the XL.

Sticking to drums (what I actually play) and would probably be best to get myself closer to my dream kit.

Just a bit of gearlust on my behalf.
