Gigs / Re: Frost gigs June 2016!!!

Seems I'm doing Wath and staying over for Bilston too. I was at the Lazuli gig at Maltby as discussing with Nellie how I was considering going to Bilston as I wasn't back at work on the Monday after and was considering staying over.
Next thing two tickets were in my hand and I had been relieved of a £30 in notes that were in my hand. Damn she is fast!
It's going to make a change being able to have a beer before and afterwards.

Nice.
Wondered where Heartstrings would end up?
Signs was awesome at Celebr8.3 when they first played it. Can't wait to hear that one again.

The new venue for Fibbers in York is a great venue. Don't compare it to the old dark low roofed hole the old one was. Saw Lifesigns at the new place. Lovely venue. High roof and we'll set out. Loads of stage left and right stowage area too.

As some of you may know Cameron has been rather ill recently but now seems a lot better. No drumming or guitars either although later we are going to put some guitar on one of his Frost* inspired tracks.
This is based on the few clips of 1976 that Jem revealed on Frost Reports and the EIMA DVD.
It is all Fruity Loops based and the plan is real drums, guitar and bass will be put on it.

York is already ring marked in my calendar. The new Fibbers is a great venue. If you have been to the old venue be aware the new one is the other side of the river and not the low roofed dark hellhole the other was.

The plan is to probably put some real drums and guitars on this when he feels a bit better but has done this over the weekend.

Ta everyone. It was a biggie this year. I can join Saga now (Not the band the holiday lot), apply for those saving funds and get a free Parker pen just for enquiring, or even low cost car insurance. Happy days! ;)

A few weeks ago I suggested to Cameron that it might be a laugh to mess about with the bits of the unused track 1976. He listened to the menu music off the EIMA DVD and there are some bits on the Frost* reports too. This is what he has done so far in Guitar Pro 6 using the included sounds although it can convert to midi if we wanted to pursue it further. Hyperventilate riff in there too as is Pocket Sun drum part.

I don't ever really understand the music as being "relevant"?
ELO Out Of The Blue, one of my favourite albums, was it relevant at release or is it now?
I don't care because it puts a smile on my face when I play it.

Good music will always be good music. Sometimes the lyrics date it (Yes), sometimes the sounds(80's Simmons drums etc), but who cares?

Frost* = Awesome melodies that are catchy (A rarity in "Prog" ), modern soundscapes and sounds but with enough "widdle" to keep the "Proggies" happy without resorting to a DT note fest.
As A.J. said. Frost* sound like Frost*. Nobody else.

Blimey!
I don't think I have ever done a post with so many " and ? in it.
I need to sit down with a biscuit and a big mug of tea.

Note to Mr Godfrey if you are passing through. Crack on when the time feels right. We can wait (a bit  ;) )
Frost*, is, was, and will still be relevant to us all.
Now what was all that bollocks i was going about music being relevant. I have just contradicted myself above.
Must give my head a shake and have a word with myself!

Quite surprised to see John play a Les Paul  on the new track "Signs" at Celebr8.3. Not a Gibson though but a Vintage V100 Icon 'Lemon Drop' (modelled on the Peter Green guitar) dropped into "metal tuning."

Nice choice though as I have one too although mine is reliced a lot more.

Interesting choice and a lovely guitar as it has an out of phase neck pickup and combining both gives you quite an interesting sound option. Very thin and percussive.
Wonder if it will make more appearances?

Jem is now custodian of the banana. Getting it to him was a bit of trial and error but he did get it in the end.

I purposely didn't film the new one as I didn't want to spoil anybodys excitement of getting the recorded version. It was a longish track with some mega changes. Maybe 8-10 mins long. John played what looked like a "Vintage V100MRPGM Distressed Lemon Drop Guitar" just on this track which is a change from the Cort Strat type he usually uses.
He announced he was just dropping the tuning as the track uses a big dropped Rawk tuning. Gave us a quick demo of a dropped "Metal" riff which he announced was "free of charge". The track changed halfway through to a huge doomy guitar/keyboard riff. Sounded epic.
I believe Pedro may have filmed it but don't quote me and if he has maybe he will ask Jem first if he is Ok with it going public?
Epic gig.

Did I mention I have Jems Vocoder now. No guarantee with it though, the tight barsteward, although he did box it. Not had time to have a play yet. Been trying to find the Frost* report where he builds up an amusing bit of track with it by adding layers.

Frostfest with the 09 on the back or the long sleeve black and white shirt with the big orange Frosterisk on the front.
