what does that even mean? :?
LOL
I guess it refers to all those one-use sounds that made pop hits 'catch your ear' but then couldn't be used again because their so distinctive. Perhaps like that 'stoppy-starty' guitar that Madonna used, or even ItBites' "Dumbry-umbry-ay-oh". Brilliant, ear-catching but can't be used again.

That's my guess anyway.... :D

or more fitting... mr blobby... barbie girl... crazy frog... need i go on...
You're so clever Pedders.

Or even that buggering 'My voice has been pitch corrected beyond belief so I sound like a robot' sound that you would of thought would have stopped with Cher's 'Believe'

It can currently be found in most of today's chart R&B music which seems bizzare given its distinctive gimmicky sound!

I guess some of them make it through!

Ask Frost* / X Factor and the like...

One for everyone but I'm particularly interested in what jem has to say given he's written the final song for one of them...

What are people's opinions on shows like the X Factor/Pop Idol etc etc?
I was sat there getting my haircut earlier and heard Alexandra singing "hallelujah"
and couldn't help but think what it would've been like had Eoghan or whatever his name was sang it...Yet it would have still been number one..

My personal opinion is that whilst it's brilliant for the people who win (how long that fame lasts for is a seperate discussion!) but it's not doing the industry and favours. I mean there's something not right when there's a guaranteed number one and you don't even know who's singing it yet! That can't be right! Things are changing all the time and no more than right now it would seem so how do people think these kinds of shows and their related 'guaranteed' success in the charts affects the industry and how people view the charts as a whole?

Just thought it would be a good topic for discussion :)

Quote from: "tomskerous"You want to watch out for Kev though - I've had to take some of his chords back when the 9ths went flat.

Hats off to you for that one :)

To fair I dread to think the level of rubbing ones stomach and patting your head that would be going on trying to play Falling Down AND sing it...IT'd be a nightmare!

not that DDD is easy cause bugger me it's not!!....i mean...REALLY NOT

Well I thought they were bloody amazing!
It's a rarity to go to a gig where you can see the band having quite so much fun!
I laughed a lot :)

Let's face it, you can't beat a gig where the:

1: Bassist wears a ridiculous wig
2: There's lot of comments along the line of "Shit how does it go again?" by the amazing Mr. Godfrey
3: There is a pause in the quiet sections MID-LYRIC to have a swig of your beer
4: The band drink booze on stage
5: There are xmas hats involved
6: There are hilarious xmas covers with the announcement "Oh F*** it it's xmas!"
7: A random member of the audience gets up to sing an entire song, and does a good job of it too!
8: The support is a comedy routine

I could go on and on and on...Simply one of the best, most entertaining gigs i've ever been to :)

A friend of mine can't make the gig on Saturday and to be honest I'd rather it went to a dedicated Frost*ie than another friend who won't appreciate what they're seeing as much as some of you guys would :)

Are there any takers? I'm hoping to get to Kingston a bit earlier to meet some of you wonderful people so there'd be plenty of time to collect the ticket!! :)

Quote from: "Fogeyspasm"i left the cd on in the car and it was on the quiet intro to Welcome to Nowhere turned up quite loud and she managed to get around 100 yards before armageddon ensued from the speakers.

I actually just laughed out loud when I read that :)
I may have made the same mistake (it's not really a mistake though is it... ;) )
