Just read on Facebook and Tinyfish forum.
Ear problems. Very sad news. :(

Yep, very sad indeed.
I hope he can continue to make music, and maybe with the help of in ear monitoring/noise filters etc may be able to play live in the future.
But as many people have said over at the fishtank, health & sanity come first - it's not a nice condition and at the extreme is much more than 'a bit of ringing in the ears'.

Best Wishes

That sucks bigtime. It's a rotten illness for anyone but for a musician? Gutted for him

Life's just so bloody desperately perverse sometimes isn't it? It must be heartbreaking for Simon to type '...I am going deaf..' as it's obvious that he enjoys his music so much. Really hoping that things don't get any worse and that by giving the old lugs a rest, Simon's condition improves.

I will personally make sure that Simon remains awesome as a studio presence at least...  ;)

Meanwhile, make sure you can all get to Celebr8. OK?!

Shouldn't really call the rest of Tinyfish that....;)

Sad indeed, there's a few of now realising that health comes first

Devastating news. :( I can't imagine how hard it must be, especially for a musician.

Even more motivation for those of you who don't protect your ears, on and off the stage. Get yourself moulded earplugs with filters, they are dirt cheap if you consider it as an investment to keep your hearing intact. I use plugs even when attending gigs, very often they are way too loud, especially in smaller venues. That's where the majority of prog gigs are happening.

However, even tinnitus may improve, so let's keep that in our prayers to the man upstairs, shall we? All hope is not lost.

Very sad indeed.

The worst thing that can happen to a muso.

Let's hope he continues to record with the band.
