Diffidentia

So here goes, my attempt at some shameless self-promotion.

First, and at the moment foremost, my progressive (with a touch or two of - no, not Frost* - metal) sidekick, amazingly enough called Diffidentia

By the way, I'm looking for a singer to take these songs, and quite a few more, to the next level. PM me or send me an email if you're interested!

Second, my band (on ice at the moment), Rotary. A lot more straight-forward than Diffidentia, still not quite without progressive influences. As with the other stuff, not too much vocals nailed yet, though I had an attempt at one of the songs. I'm sorry if I hurt your ears ;)

Some of the tunes I do have lyrics for, most I don't. Somehow I feel I've lost the touch on writing lyrics. However, I've been using the guitar lately to lay down the vocal melodies, so at least I've got melodies for quite a few of them.

Indeed it is ;) Just something that popped into (our out of?) my head and I had to Photoshop my way out of. One part eye, one part clockwork (orange?), and one part Hubble photo.

Very Dream Theater inspired, Awake/I&W era.

Big ol' update!

There's 3 new songs on the Rotary-myspace site (//http://www.myspace.com/rotaryband). 2 very poppy ballads and one, new and shiny, full on rocker. Almost stoner-like.

The two poppy songs (Serenity and Waiting) are quite different from my usual stuff. It's how I end up when I write songs on the acoustic instead of the electric guitar. A greater emphasis on vocal melody and more simplified instrumental sections. Of course, no song of mine is 100% anything, and these two follow that rule by including more rock-y parts.

The latest addition is something I wrote and recorded last Monday. 3 minutes of rock (which is really short compared to my usual stuff). It all spawned from a blusey riff I stumbled upon and had to record right away. I decided to try a more straight on rock approach which seemed to fit the song really well, and the lyrics came as a result of that choice - straight up rock clishés.

Well, I hope you'll give it a try and let me know what you think :)

Just listened through all the Diffidentia stuff, and it's superb! Really really liking it.

It's got points of early Dream Theater, mixed with heavier stuff, get some more up to listen to :D

Any chance of a download (the UrSession one doesn't seem to allow downloads without signing up for it)

Yeah, I'll be moving the Diffidentia stuff to mySpace soon(-ish). However, 3 of the tunes can be downloaded from this site.

Eh, that also reminds me, I haven't uploaded a new Diffidentia tune in over a year. What a shame! I think I'll have to upload a new song (Load) about... now!
