Can these be bought anywhere for less than the £20 or so that Amazon are asking? The MP3 version of Glitter is available for about 7 quid, but I'd rather have the real deal.

 That must be some of that "More Thick Resonance" at play there....I was just typing almost exactly the same post as you Rog!
As they said about Laurel & Hardy...two minds without a single thought!  :)

can't wait!  I am crazy goo-goo-ga-ga over The Urbane, and Kino, and It Bites.

catherine

Ah yes, I know that disease well. You'll be turning to IQ next, you mark my words!

I'll admit, i've been on a rollercoaster since 30Dec08 when I got hold of Milliontown, which then set me off with EIMA, then following JM's work, so got hold of Kino - Picture (Brilliant) and then The Urbane (love both) They are not Prog by any stretch, and shouldn't be approached as such, but in their own right, are superb, you can hear JM develop his writing from Neon, through Glitter, into Kino's Picture and ending up with his superb work with Kino's long awaited 2nd album (Tall Ships  :D )

Once you're hooked though, IQ will be a major part of your listening and can't be faulted, I have the full catalogue and love em. Remember that Frost* owe IQ as much to their direction as JM's work with JJ and AE providing such a firm foundation to both bands.

To close though, if you love The Urbane, try get hold of the Jadis albums, JJ and MO from IQ, in a different style to IQ, could be compared to The Urbane as prog free rock, give them a listen.
Hello, is there anybody in there?............

Ivor

Fantastic!

Thanks for the link Roger, and for the rest of the comments, guys. Glitter & Neon, currently winging their way to me for £14, including shipping!

I got IQ - Frequency, and Ever and I like them a lot, though they're not going to overtake It Bites/Kino/the Urbane on the playcount.  but very listenable!

and I've heard a bit of Jadis, and liked it, too, but aren't they a bit religious, or am I thinking of some other band?

Not sure about the religious side, only got a couple of albums, and I'm still a sinner Roger

No, I can't see anything religious going on at the Jadis camp. Definite protests though, towards The Middle East, if I'm not mistaken. As a listner to music rather than lyrics, I've often been late in understanding what a song is about.

"Happy Bithday to you" , even that took me a while

Well, that one's all about bithdays, you see... you sing it at bithday parties and you often blow out the bithday candles on the bithday cake afterwards.
