Nice bass - the Ibanez gear has come on a long way...it's now really, really popular.

I treated myself to a new bass a couple of years back...one of these:

It's a lovely bass and growly as hell with a massive range of tones...hardly needs any eq'ing at all.

Okay, I now have serious bass envy...  :D

I only recently got my first bass - it is literally the cheapest bass in the world, I bought it & amp for £50, from a friend who I suspect bought it from the Argos catalogue... :p

However - it has enabled me to establish that, yes, I can play bass guitar after years of playing only Double Bass, so I'm really thrilled with it. Even played in public for 3 shows of 'Grease' last week!

Hoping to find something to join so I can play regularly, and eventually I might even treat myself to something that isn't about to fall apart!

I think ideally I'd like a fretless. Frets confuse me.

NICE!!!  What model is that? It has the Thumb bass body design. I'm loving the pickups.
My Thumb bolt on 6 string had that classic growl to it as well. If it wasn't so heavy I'd
still be using it today. But now I have the Ibanez.....I would love one of the neck through
Thumb 4 strings like Peter Trewavas has. The only other classic bass I will have someday
is a good ol Ricky 4003.

I think for now I'm set. I want to build a different body for my steinberger now. It looks
like a joke next to the natural looking Ibanez.

Thanks :)

It's the 2007 Limited Edition Thumb - Lacewood and Yellowheart body with Wenge/Yellowheart neck.

Fortunately I'm a 4 string man through and through, so the classic Thumb weight issue isn't so much of a problem. Those 6'ers certainly way a fair bit considering they have such a small body!

I got serious Thumb gas when I got it though...I was desperate for a regular Thumb NT..yum. The other bass I'd love is a Bongo or MusicMan...great sounds. Will have to wait until I'm a rich man :D

Btw LFE - I started out on a £50 Kay crapper. Then got a Yamaha RBX800 which I used for 19 years until I got the Thumb.

Very nice basses indeed. I'm getting the urge to build me a new one.
This was my last one (15 years old). It was just an experiment.

Thanks guy's but its really a strange apparatus: semi acoustic body made of yew. Lower part of the body and neck made of  maple/yew and Robinia. Saddle is made of purpleheart  and bridge of brass and a rosewood fretboard.
The pickup is hand wound  with thread of some old powersupply transformers.
The one i want to build will be more professional in use of materials and electrical stuff.

Still though that's impressive to build one practically from scratch! I've built strat style guitars out
of parts but would never attempt carving a body. I thought about buying stuff to make a P-Bass
before I got me 6 string.

I've actually been wanting to design a new body for my Steinberger. I've about had enough of
the cheesey 80's style flying vee body.
