And can Babydaddy and Jake Shears produce this mythical beast?

(Well, I guess not after their spat with Elton, but I'd love to hear a camped-up Steve Howe)

By the way, what's with this "to make sure we have a prog connection" malarkey? What's happened to you all while I've been away? I'd have expected connections with basket-weaving and hand-to-hand cheese-fighting, or at least Detroit Techno, to be introduced...

PS Buggles 'Age of Plastic' was the first record I was allowed to put on dad's posh stereo *by myself*. Spent ages staring at the track sheets trying to guess what a 'Solina' might be - it sounded so exotic. Ah, the benefit of hindsight.
I was a victim of goose-flirting the other day.
This bleeding great goose came up to me and wanted a light.
I said no.
Goose, there\'ll be no flirting today.

I have only given it a brief listen on spotify and I liked it.  Didn't realise it was Trevor Horn until this thread and that makes a lot of sense.  FGTH were the best band featured by him.

And (dons her Nellie/Catherine hat) - TA - I am sure you can be an unreconstructed male where T.A.T.U are concerned.

I don't think I said we have to have a prog connection, Tom, but to deny the existence of such on this forum would be the very definition of contrariness, surely  :D

Then again, I did bring up Joanna Newsom and she's not very prog, is she? And if you want something very different, then be off with you to listen to Heiner Goebbels' "Eislermaterial", which is utter genius.

Actually, my ogling was much more directed at Serebro: those black dresses and long stockings remind me of those girls in my sixth form in the late 1970s who were completely inaccessible to me because, err, I was a Yes fan  ;)

By contrast, 30 years later and I get to talk to all sorts of ladies by being Frost* fan. My wife even came to last year's Peel Christmas gig :D

Well, she is a *bit*, deep down. :-) Like the idea of JN, but she reminds me too much of Lisa Simpson singing in practice...

And I shall look out the other another time!

I agree; she is a bit  :D

Goebbels is an acquired taste, as much of modern classical can be. But I defy anyone to listen to the opening few minutes of Eislermaterial and not be moved by Josef Bierbichler's frail singing and that of the Ensemble Modern, both on Eisler's beautiful children's hymn for the DDR, "Anmut sparet nicht noch Mühe", with fantastic words by Brecht.

I know, sounds unlikely, but do try it. In my case, it's made all the more poignant by the fact that both of my children were born in Berlin ... has me almost in tears every time ...

Are they produced by Trevor Horn or by Mars?

I always like to think of flowers as having little faces. It's something that's stuck with me ever since I was small(er), especially with pansies. They look like they've got little moustaches and everything. Not all flowers look like they could have a face, though - roses don't look like they could be personified. Daffodils on the other hand have that sort of snout look that reminds me of the Ocorok enemies on The Legend Of Zelda computer game series. But I digress...

Just because a flower doesn't look like it could have a wee little face (with just a bit of the imagination) does not, I feel, deprive it of a personality. What attitude would a rose have, for example? We must analyse the qualities of the flower - the arrangement of the petals, the thorns, the bleakness of a rose bush during Winter and the harsh contrast of the colours in the Spring. Because of this, I think that roses are closer to the attitudes of peoples' view on the seasons, as they are open and beautiful in sunshine and the warm months, and closed and sealed away during the colder times.

Of course, trees are the masters of the plant kingdom, as they tower over everything else. In fact, they keep the atmosphere of the world healthy for us, so really, we owe a lot to the trees.

I hope this settles any dispute on why things are the way they are.

Mouse, you need to have a look at the game Plants Vs Zombies in that case. Lots of lovely smiley little flowers!

(I should confess a complete addiction to it at present - it's genius! Fantastic humour.)
