I must say I have rather fond memories of 'I Wish it Could Be Christmas Everyday'... proper crimbo song that one too!

Also always really liked 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses  ;)

Nellie, be gentle with him. We don't want any more breakages this year!

MarkOneMusic

for what it's worth, every year I try to arrange a traditional carol and post it as a Merry Christmas on various boards I frequent.

Due to other commitments, I'm not sure I'm going to get to one this year, so...

This was my '08 effort:

Happy festive thingies and a frosted hob nob to you all :)

Pedro

And very nice too - is this an excuse for me to re-post the "No Me Noel" lyrics (yet) again? ;)

It might be getting a little tired by now...but what the heck...  ;)

NO ME NO EL

No good no will no glad no tide
No cosy fire no warm inside
No figs no dates no ginger beer
No ho ho ho no season's cheer
No Glüh no wein no bell no peal
No peel no fruit no festive meal
No star no lead no candle bright
No peace on earth no silent night

Heartless and cynical
Cold in the middle
The emotion just gets in your way
The promotion is clinical
Little by little you're making us pay
Keep making us pay

No free no will no gift no find
No thought no count no very kind
No buy no friend no more no nice
No sale no deal just higher price
No bow no wrap no sellotape
No good TV no Great Escape
No get no give no give no love
No time no pray no god above

Pointless and trivial
Shamelessly driven
So devoted to getting your way
You've polluted the miracle
Little by little you take it away
Keep taking away

Killing Christmas
Killing Christmas
Killing Christmas for you

Even now in front of me
All day and night on my TV
"Buy it now, it can be yours just call today"
All my life
We have traded all we should be

Selling Christmas
Selling Christmas
Selling Christmas to you

No more no right no gonna play
No need no greed on Christmas day
No buy no love no win no race
No need no rush just breathing space
No spend no stretch no credit card
No more excess, decision hard
No need no trade no buy no sell
No you no me no me no el

Wide eyed and magical
Right in the middle
This emotion I won't shut away
The true meaning is critical
Little by little I'll cut you away
Keep cutting away
I'll cut you away...

Excellent! Hadn't seen that before  :D

Quote from: "catherine"Shouldn't it be "No Peel"?
Surely you're not suggesting I should put the name of that mighty Prog establishment anywhere near a lyric pointed at the shameless cash-in of the commercial Xma$?

Run With The Fox by Chris Squire & Alan White. Not the most popular of songs, but I like it  :)
My Hovercraft is full of eels

Mouse

I've found a hat so I can take it off to you, Pedro - the Grand Wizard of the Frost*ies!  :D

I always enjoy listening to carols at this time of year. I love the atmosphere that the sound of carols in a low lit church makes on Christmas Eve. I might be the only Frost*ie on here who does, I think...

Pedro

Thanks but keep your hat on, it's flippin' cold!

...and you're not alone. A well arranged brass band does it too...and by 'well arranged' I don't mean tall ones at the back!
"Putting food on the table is more important than 7/8"

RacingHippo

Nope, not alone there, Mouse.
Despite my heathen ways, I adore carols wot is being sung by a choir and can never resist the temptation to join in on the bass part*.
If someone asked me if I wanted to go carolling, I'd be right there, insisting they do four-part harmonies (probably in vain), come rain or snow.

As for brass bands, Pedro, spare a thought for the poor buggers playing outside while you do your Christmas shopping - those mouthpieces are bloody FREEZING when you start playing! And you have to make sure you wipe your mouth on your sleeve every so often else the spittle will freeze the mouthpiece to your lips.
Ahh, happy memories...
