Jem, what is John doing these days? Is he recording or touring somwhere with someone?

Not sure if you are being serious or not, but I'll play the daft laddie...!

JM is possibly one of the busiest men in prog / rock these days.  When not playing with Frost*, he is the frontman for It Bites, who just last week played a blinder of a gig in Carlisle which was recorded for DVD, after playing an acoustic gig the night before.  IB are playing a charity gig in Workington next Friday and are on a UK tour in March, followed by a couple of Japanese dates.

He also plays bass in A when they tour, runs his own studio (Outhouse in Reading) and produces or mixes numerous albums, from the prog acts such as Touchstone to more indie / emo acts such as Enter Shikari and Funeral For A Friend.  He often plays guitar on other people's albums, such as Steve Thorne, Martin Orford, and Lee Abrahams in the last year or so.  This has resulted in him being voted 3rd best guitarist in the recent Classic Rock Presents Prog poll (personally, I'd have put him higher...).

Other than that (and nearly sinking the odd boat), not a lot really!  ;)
Come on, you\'re a lion!

thanx, i didn't know he played bass i A...

This from the IB forum :-

Quote from: "Hilary"Another snippet for you! This time it is from the CRS Rock Society magazine. And I quote from page 7:
"PBII have a new album out called Plastic Soup. It features guest appearances from John Mitchell, John Jowitt and Heidi Jo Hines. All were present for the launch gig in Zoetermeer, Holland on 23rd January. Album review next issue. We hope to have PBII back at the CRS and, who knows, there may be guests..."

This is the revamped Plackband, who cited Frost* as one of their influences.

Odd that such a talented guitarist would only play bass in A. Why not the much more popular E?
...and I can feel the world is turning...turn around

He also recently co- produced and mixed You Me at Six ' album Hold Me Down which was recorded at JM's studio.  The album reached no5 in the UK album charts.

"What is Mitchell doing?"

That's something I ask myself many times. Especially onstage.

Slightly relieved to find that it's not just me, then - it's him!

Pedro

Yes, I was worried that he was only ignoring post-whore nut-jobs...
