Nick D'Virgilio just posted some excited news on his website:

Hello one and all. Happy Holidays!

Life is crazy right now and there are a lot of things going on so I thought it was time to fill you all in.

1. The new Spock's Beard CD "X" is well on its way to getting finished. I have done a bunch of the vocals and Dave was just done here in LA from Sacramento working with Al on some of the guitars. Things are sounding REALLY REALLY GREAT!!! This is going to be a very cool CD. There are a few things we don't normally do and some very "old school" sounding things as well.
Again, thank you so much to everyone who has given us the support to make this new CD. We are excited!

2. (THIS IS THE CRAZY PART)
I'm am sure that most of you out there have heard of Cirque Du Soliel, well I have been hired for a brand new touring show. That is awesome!!! They have even offered me a contract. I have never had that kind of thing in my whole career.
The crazy part is not going to work for Cirque, it is that I am going on tour with my whole family. My wife and 2 kids are packing up and moving up to Montreal Canada (in the middle of January! now that is crazy :)) We are up there for 12 weeks of rehearsal and then about 2 months of shows so I will be in Montreal for a good long time. Then after that it is over to Quebec City and then a break (SPOCK'S BEARD TOUR!) and then over to the EU. I think Amsterdam is our first stop over in Europe.
This is a pretty amazing opportunity for me and my family. They get to tour around and see some of the world and I get to provide for them while I still get to play music. That is the best part. Let's face it, times are tough for everyone these days and being a musician is not the easiest way to make a living. You have probably read me ranting about that in the past so I am taking advantage of this situation and going on an adventure.....in the circus! Crazy!!!
This is a brand new show and it is going to be very drum intensive so I will not be board at all musically and if any of you have ever seen a Cirque show you know that they are amazing to see and the music involved is always great.
I have never live outside of Los Angeles. I have been to Montreal a few times in my career and I already know that it is a very nice city. If any of you can give me any advice on the town I would appreciate it :) I am hoping to really get around and see and do as much as I can. Maybe even a gig or two or three on the side in between the Cirque thing so if anybody knows of any clubs or places I could get a solo show happening please let me know.
My family is really looking forward to this adventure as well. I am usually the one traveling around while they stay at home and now they will get to do and see something different then their everyday usual thing. It will be fun traveling with them and Cirque is all good with it which is what really makes this job over the top.
We take off next month and it is coming up fast.

Congratulations to Nick.  I think we all knew it was just a matter of time before he ran off and joined the circus.  Not surprising that they were expecting him.  I wish him all the best.

That is awesome news! That sure will be quite a change from good ol sunny 'So-Cal' to Montreal
in the dead of January! I thought it got cold here in upstate NY! Some hand warmers and brush
up on french and they'll do fine ;)

Woah cool! I've never seen Cirque du Soleil before, but this might be a good first opportunity. :D
