Hi all

I have here an Oxygen 8 v1 which will basically not work with my aluminium Macbook Pro, some computability issue. I'd need to get a powered USB hub and god knows what else if I wanted even a glimmer of it working. It's basically useless to me now. :/

Can anyone recommend me a decent, small two octave controller? I like to have a small one so I can take my rig to different locations to compose.

And no I don't want a nanokey. Not what I'm after...

A friend of mine has a BEHRINGER U-CONTROL UMA25S on a Macbook : works fine. It's very light and slim, you can take it anywhere with you  8-)

I tried the EMU XBOARD 25, but it was plugged on a PC. Anyway, it's supposed to work with a Mac too.

What will you be doing with said Oxygen now?

Not sure about the Xboard 25 but my 49 has USB (powered) and MIDI (Battery or 6v DC) so would probably work on a Mac if you have a MIDI interface. Not the nicest thing to play mind you.

I got an Edirol PCR-M30 in eBay for about 40 quid. Lots of buttons and knobs too!
I was a victim of goose-flirting the other day.
This bleeding great goose came up to me and wanted a light.
I said no.
Goose, there\'ll be no flirting today.

can you give details about the Oxygen and what seem to be the issues?  I use them all the time on mac systems running 10.4, 10.5, and on my Snow*y 10.6 at home.  never had any troubles.

No idea what I'm gonna do with it.

I plug it in, it turns on but the Mac doesn't see it, and it doesn't work with any of my DAWs. I read on the M-Audio website that it could work with a powered USB hub but not guaranteed. And thats a faff and extra clutter around my computer I don't want. The main problem seems to be the fact I have an aluminium Macbook Pro, which isn't compatible with that keyboard, it's not OS related. Hence it's now useless to me x_x

Thanks all for the suggestions :)

Mrs One gave me one of those a couple of Christmases ago...  It slips in an overnight bag just fine and connected to the macbook, gives you a midi controller and audio I/O with a headset mic.

I recorded the outline for one of the songs on the (hopefully) up coming album in a hotel room in London using it and Garage Band.  Fine fun, and better than CNN any night of the week
