Quote from: "Dave M".. for the record (or CD) I just love port .. had a bottle for my 40th .. Taylors 1972 (or was it 68) and it was bloody lovely .. velvet in a glass mmmmm  :D

I was fortunate enough to have built a website some 7-8 years ago for The Halifax Wine Company, for which I accepted as part-payment a bottle of port that was the same age as me: Warre's 1966.
We were both 40 together, but I'm afraid I'm the only one of us to have survived the day...

Port is a pretty "prog" thing to drink, isn't it?

that sounds like hell to me..... waiting 20 years to finally open the damn bottle!  ;)

That's why we need lots of bottles.

Ok, I just have to update the thread to say this. Got a bottle of Ramos Pinto 30 year old Tawny, and this is the best wine of any kind I've ever tasted. Bloody expensive, as port always is, but wow.. This is just amazing. Everyone who like port, even you that don't like it should try this one. It's like a nutty, woody, caramely sweet spicy divine juice from the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden.
And it's way better when it's been open 2 or 3 days.

Where can one buy barrels of this?
