I'm delighted to announce that I'll be playing keys for Joe Satriani for 2 shows during his Autumn tour. I'm depping for Mike Keneally, Joe's main keys man on this tour who has a prior engagement on those dates. He very kindly got in touch with me and I was delighted to be able to help out. As surprise emails go, this one was a belter.

I'll be there for the Glasgow show at the Clyde Auditorium on Fri 22nd October and the Birmingham Symphony Hall gig on Saturday October 23rd.

Hopefully see you there or thereabouts.  :D

Full details of the tour are here -

Jem that is awesome I've met Joe a couple of times and had photo access for his last tour over here I had planned on going to the Bristol show but I'll see if I can fit in Birmingham as well :D

Well, that's certainly an odd one, but good for you, Jem: a real rocker at last. You have three months to grow some shoulder-length locks starting ... now!  :D

Phwoar! Usually I'd be there (Symphony Hall) at the drop of a hat, but at £37 a ticket coupled with the fact that by then I'll be living on a somewhat tight budget, I'll have to give this some thought. I shall endeavour to make it though, it sounds like a right old blinder   ;)

excrement! What a gig :D Who's on bass? Stu Hamm again?

Fan-fucking-tastic news ! :D

What a gig ... are you going to be having a shread off ? .. My money's on you Jem  :D  :D

Thats going to have to be a gig to attend.

Do tell us .. how did you end up getting the invite for the gig ... apart from being totally deserving of course (being a lion and all) ... Satch must know 100's of keyboard players in the USA ?
... it was like watching a peach jelly f##k a steel drum ..

Oooooooooh just had a thought ..

A Satch guest appearance on the next batch of Frost tunes ? :D  :D  :D

You've got 2 nights to sell it to him..you can do it Jem !

Fantastic!  8-)

I was in 2 minds whether or not to go to this as I've seen Satch quite a few times before and I always feel that the Clyde Auditorium lacks the atmosphere of smaller venues.  But that's just made my mind up - ticket just bought!

I do hope Joe allows a bit of guitar / synth interplay and you're not just holding down string pad chords all night.  The fact that Mike Keneally is doing the other dates suggests that Satch is looking for a bit of battle with the keys!  (I've seen Keneally with Steve Vai and he's just scary...   )
Come on, you\'re a lion!

very cool!  have fun!  rawk!

8-)  I had the same question. Why you? Did Mike recommend you? Rudess? Is he a Shayne Ward fan? Or is Satch a Frost*ie? Regardless, congrats. That's proper recognition there. Do take it easy on 'im.
...and I can feel the world is turning...turn around

AWESOME!

That is all.

That's just awesome! He's a freakin great player and musician, and now seems to have decent taste in keyboard players.

Oh man, I can't wait to see a Frost* report on those gigs and the preparations for that. At least I do hope you make one because I would love to see some of that since there is no chance whatsoever that I could attend any of the gigs living on mainland Europe.
