Band / Project name

FFS! This is always the hardest part about setting up a band or a project, ain't it?!

I've rejoined with the singer of my last band and it's going like a charm. Lovely times!
But we're trying to come up with a name for our project and for the love of God we can't come up with anything proper!

 

Every now and then we do run into something nice but then we find out:
- the name is all ready used by another band/artist
- the name turns out to be the same as that of a car diagnostic company or Russian porn site
- the name turns out to be the same as that of a potpourri discussion forum or the  Canadian indoor curling association

Does anyone have a good suggestion?

If you do you'll (eventually) get a free CD. Once we have enough material to fill a CD that is. 2 songs are in the sack; 8 or so more to go :?

Yes I'm desperately serious!  :?    It's fairly modern music btw. As in "Trance - Dance - Pop".

I don't think I've ever made a serious band name in my life.. it's always the other guys who do that, while I play accordion on the keyboard and sing backwards.

But I found a way, by using an anagram generator. At least it works for song titles, highly recommended

I wouldn't just throw random names at it. Its the music that defines the name.

What kind of name is Rush? Or even frost? Those names don't have anything to do with their musical content. Keep it simple and memorable.

Attending a gig once an unannounced support act came on and were pretty good. When asked who they were, the reply was "80's matchbox car romance". Suffice to say it took a while to convey that message.

If you frequent any sites that use Word Captcha, I find the two random words that come up often make cool band names.

Manipulation 9

A long time ago (~30 years) when I were a lad (cue music) and joining bands, hanging out with musos etc; we chucked some names about and that one came out.  It's got something to do with mathematical operations in control engineering.
(Yawn)  
There is a band called Manipulation, but that extra character on the end just makes it (like Frost* wouldn't be the same without the *)
