Just to say that I will be reading with interest the large-ish article in the latest Sound On Sound magazine.
My actual stick-work is not good enough to record and the programmed bits I do certainly sound programmed.

It's a good article. Sound advice about Preset Zero Syndrome and thinking like a drummer.

I do some of my best thinking when I'm supposed to be playing the drums!!!!

I saw this in passing today, might have to have a look as I'm intrested in the sound side of for when I record my v-drums

Hmm, I might pick this one up. I could do with swatting up on techniques, so that when I do finally get a decent drum softsynth dealie, I can get stuck in.

So, er... This SOS, then. Worth... Getting? Buying? Wottizzit?

Helloo.

Sound On Sound magazine has been the main magazine for techy recording professionals and enthusiasts for some time.
I love buying it to look at all the shiny stuff I can't afford and it quite often tells me stuff I didn't know abuot the shiny stuff I've got.

Get yourself over to http://www.soundonsound.com/ where you can read all but the most recent stuff which is only available to subscribers but even then they let you read the first bit of the articles.

The drum programming article is good but I found a lot of it to be common sense really. A lot of the nuances inherent in real drummers can be recreated if you spend the time on it...you know, steadily getting faster, etc.  ;)

I might scan a page or two for you and Mouse so you can see what it's like.
I don't like recommending stuff like this because what I consider to be an informative and highly 'thrashable' mag might be a dead waste of a fiver to someone else.

I'm pretty tight on cash at the minute, but I'm always looking to expand on my music recording "skills".

If I needed to record a drum track, I used to hook up my elec kit to the Mac via MIDI, but since I moved house I have nowhere to put the kit, and it's a constant source of frustration. I might install Logic on the laptop and take that to the storage facility (my parents' house ) where the kit is!
