Hey all,
i'm planning getting me a set of near-field speakers and i'm not sure witch one i should take. I have till tomorrow to decide.
Anyone any experience with one of these?

I had a set of the Rockits, briefly. In fact I had a few of them as one-by-one they went back for various reasons.
I think they just had a dodgy batch, or some quality control issues because they were really, really nice but either worked for a while and then made horrendous crackles or they had problems (buzz/rattle) at some frequencies.
I know that the are really good but I couldn't trust them after the third one died. I think they have since been re-worked and are probably the business once again.

I ended up going for a pair of Tannoy Reveals which suit me fine.

Thanks Pedro, it's certainly a strong point to consider. I read the sound on sound review on both, and both are considered good near-field monitors for the price you pay.

Forgot to say, the Rockit's front bass ports (well slots, really) were quite disconcerting. Having the monitors at ear level and only about 4 feet apart means that I'm only 4 feet away from them and the air coming out of those front ports was like having two of those air-cannons pointed at me sometimes!  ;)

Not a negative really but a factor to consider when auditioning/trialling, if proximity is an issue....or if you might put any bits of paper on the desk in front of them. :)

After a good night sleep i went to the music shop with the latest Kaipa  album in my backpack and got a thorough listen to two sets of monitors.KRK rp6g2 and Esi near 08. The Alesis wasn't available.
At the end i bought the Esi. they had a lot more presence then the KRK. And a port on the backside; i can leave my lyric sheets on the table  ;)
I'm one happy geezer.  8-)
