I have to say it, but tonight I listened to Cardiacs for the first time in bloody ages.

Jesus they were good weren't they?

The whole of the 'Mares Nest' concert is up on Youtube, uploaded by user 'tallbastard'. Or "The Consultant" as we used to call him back in the day.

There's even lounge and techno covers these days...

I was a victim of goose-flirting the other day.
This bleeding great goose came up to me and wanted a light.
I said no.
Goose, there\'ll be no flirting today.

THUNDERFROG!!!!!!!!

The concert footage brings back memories. They truly were bonkers. Still are. :?
It's not the winning or even taking part. It's the arsing about that counts.

I had the good fortune of being in Jon Poole and Bob Leiths early Cardiacsy band 'Ad Nauseum'. We met Cardiacs a lot playing in London and Tim would often be our sound engineer...a lovelier chap you couldn't meet despite his apparent on-stage mentalness.

The music is totally bonkers and actually one of those rare things that actually works even better live than it does recorded. They are quite hard to get into but if you can stick with it, it does grow on you  :o

Mares Nest is a brilliant piece of footage - mega hard to get hold of nowadays, but a fantastic intro to the Cardiacs.

Despite him being a mate, I have to say I prefer the pre Jon Poole Cardiacs output to the post JP era....sorry Jon.
