Jem

Well, shut the door on your way out then. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Narek

Boy, an expanded CD and more Frost songs.  :D

Now Jem if you had a keyboard for every project you worked on... oh that's right you do!
I wont be the good for nothing.

I probably wasn't expressing myself properly I guess. I didn't mean to say that Frost* without Andy is "not Frost*" or a "bad Frost*" or anything. Far from that really. What I meant was, that I would've loved to see this line-up live, with Andy in the band. That's all. Sorry for the poor phrasing...  :(

EDIT: Obviously if I get the chance to see you guys live, I'm gonna be there in a heartbeat, no matter what the line-up.

I don't get all the doom and gloom. Frankly they could replace Andy with John Mayhew, Mick Pointer or Nick Mason and Frost* would still be the best band in the world!

 ;)

Alright I'm just gonna say it.  That was a little bit harsh Jem don't you think? :|   I know to you this is no big deal but this is the internet, everything tends to blow up bigger.

Totally sucks that Andy is leaving.....I loved his work on Milliontown, and I expect the same with EIMA....(hope I get mine soon!).....I also love his dry wit in the Frost Reports.  However, not a slag on any individuals, but lets be honest, this band is primarily  Jem and JM.  I am sure Dec will have an increasing role as well....cause the guy is the real deal.  Andy is a fantastic drummer, but realistically, with all due respect, in most bands, certain members are replaceable, and certain members aren't.

Pedro

As with many other acts, there are probably two clear "sides" to Frost*; studio and live but, IMHO, being able to keep the same people involved on both sides has definite benefits....but nothing lasts forever and change is generally good.

I think it is pretty clear from what we have seen and heard in the past that Jem could do the whole thing himself and, before anyone draws the wrong conclusion from that, I mean he could play all the parts and assemble pant-shatteringly good tracks. We have seen him playing all of the parts (mad guitar solos on keys, great-sounding drums - again on keys, bass guitar...., etc. etc.). He certainly could do the all the vocals too (maybe not right up to (upper) Dec's dog-bothering heights that interfere with bat-nav and not as textured as JM's classic "gravel" drive....).

However, the really clever part is that he chooses not to go it alone - which brings both expected and unexpected benefits to the outcome (that extra bit of quality and some stimulating chaos too).

Similarly, in the live setting, Jem probably *could* do it (or something like it) all himself too, either following something like the Steve Thorne backing-track approach or reworking the tracks down to only needing the four hands and three feet some of us have seen him play with....(did I just say he has three feet to play with....?). But here, again, the better thing is done, and the fantastic results have been seen by many, both on and off the stage.

Yeah, by all means, we can pick favourites if it helps get the time to pass but while live Frost* will be changed by the reduction of Andy (anyone got a recipe?) he will still be involved in some ways (yay!). I do understand that if you haven't ever seen Andy with Frost* then after Jan 10th you won't....until the great "Onion" tour in 2031, that is!  :)

So this news is only a disaster if one is inclined or determined to see it like that. For my part, I am both inclined and determined to just wish TBE the best of luck and see what happens, giving the new drummist every chance.  :)

Erm?  Andy can drum as far as I can tell  ;)

Leon doesn't play live for Tinyfish anymore, his last gig was the first one he played so if Andy's departure is the same as Leon's we will be seeing him again!

Blimey the snow is really coming down in Sarf London.

I love Andy's playing on the album (Milliontown) and I think he's a great guy, but too be really honest, when I saw him live in Zoetermeer I was underwhelmed... And at that gig I also heard from some other people that he's a great studio drummer, but less of a live drummer. Not sure if that has anything to do with it though!

Pedro - as usual, the voice of reason!  Well said.
Come on, you\'re a lion!

Freddy

Too bad Andy is leaving frost camp. Any reasons?

But...

Hey, frost* is mainly about Jem. He sings, writes songs, produce and play keyboards all over the place. Give him some cred, ffs! :D

It's a loss but the Frost*-fling-core is still intact!

...Andy is great, and there is a lot of great drummers out there too. I'm not that worried. I will follow Andys work, and Frost* will keep on making awesome music, no probs.

btw, drummers are not really musicians or? :D

Oof, I wouldn't say that at all, even if that's what you believe...

Well, I was implying a joke about drummers. Just to lighten the mood a tad. :D

Oh in that case I've got (an old) one...

Q. Whats the difference between a drummer and radox?
A. Radox bucks up the feet, a drummer...

yeah, c'mon. It's all me anyway. I only hire the others coz I feel sorry for them.

Seriously, it's not like we're getting divorced or he's died. All I'm asking for is a little calm, a little patience and a little belief. I'm not about to put anybody in TBE's place who can't play what TBE can play am I?

And besides, Andy suggested this guy and they're good mates. Calm thee selves.

Batchain's post on the IB forum didn't help admittedly which is why I made a rare appearance over there, but trust me.

Everything is fine and it's all going to be fine, ok?  8-)
