Quote from: "Julie"Someone mentioned on the Kino forum that JM was involved in another project and posted a link to Jem's blog.
I wasn't too taken with BLM the first time I heard it (it sounded a bit over-produced for my liking), but I knew it would work well live.
How right I was   :D

Same route here and at more or less the same time I guess.......seems so long ago..........

Reading through all the posts, I see I need to mention Porcupine Tree - Gavin Harrison is one of the most amazing yet musical drummers out there.  Blunders reminds me of him a lot.  Kino too - I loved the live gig on Rockpalast.
Frost*, monkey, trumpet, ARSE!!

Stumbled across the CR-78 Frost Report... Haven't been the same since!!  No, Seriously!!  Since then, Ive been a Frost* Deciple, Spreading the word! 8-)

Your post makes it 10 mentions of PT in this thread alone never mind the rest of the forum

Quote from: "glaik"mucking about on youtube, saw that classic little big planet video of Toys, googled it saw that Johnny Mitchell was in the band.  Myself and the missus were raving about Kino album so bought Milliontown and Eima and never looked back 2 Frost* gigs and 1 2J's and a A gig later etc.
Take a bow, Pedro  :D
Gosh that makes me very happy indeed.  :)  2 years ago I had just finished the first version of that. Looking forward to Little Big Planet 2 in January - the potential it offers is just mind-blowing.

I remember my very 1st listen anything Frost*, but no idea how I arrived at it.

It was the YouTube video where Jem is describing the solo in Black Light Machine, and mentions Screaming On The Beaches (I think?) by It Bites... I can't find the video on YouTube anymore, it was uploaded before the planetfrost account was created.

For those that haven't seen this video, it's Jem describing the creative processes behind BLM, how it started off, how that evolved and the like, all with sound clips from his trusty Mac and him playing parts live on-camera... A little Steve Vai impersonation (of playing style - but on keyboard), all wrapped up in a package by a cheeky chappy adorned with a lovely English accent.

It took a little work to figure out the band (I had to google Black Light Machine to get it ), and then I must admit that I downloaded Milliontown from the Internets for free - but worry not, I have since paid for it and EIMA, tshirts, gigs and whatnot. ;)

I'd love to know the path I took from whatever I was watching on YouTube to Jem deconstructing a song!

Yeah does anyone else know where to find this video? Is it even still around?

Drarok

Not the foggiest, I can't even remember what the title was, or anything that would help me track it down. :(

I'm sure it was linked to from Jem's old blog, which is still intact here: //http://www.thenewcube.blogspot.com/
Also to be found running the website and merch sales at www.lifesignsmusic.co.uk

E.S.

A guy I started chatting with online around 2007 sent me the Milliontown album (illegally, yes :o ) I just instantly loved that album, and have been playing it very often ever since. Can't get tired of it. And then EIMA came and blew me away.. and then TDL.. etc etc etc..

I'm a hardcore Frost* fan... except I'm not in England and can't go to the gigs.

Hi there,

It's my first post, after quite a while lurking and enjoying the various conversations here, so I'll start with the important stuff.

For me the king of biscuits is the plain chocolate hob-nob (milk chocolate hob-nobs just don't cut it).  There is also a biscuit where I live (Spain) called a 'Napolitana' which is kind of a cinnamon crispy thin, and very nice with a cuppa.

I first heard of Frost* via Spock's Beard.  When Nick D'Virgilio guested at Rosfest, he posted it on the SB web-site.  I subscribe to e-music.com (which is how I first heard SB) and so I looked on there and there was EIMA.  The next month when my downloads became available I downloaded the album and was completely lost.  It's been on almost permanent rotation in the car, together with Milliontown, which I subsequently bought, followed by TPE (with the tee-shirt :D ).  I also discovered PlanetFrost on youtube.  That got me hooked completely and I don't know how many times I've watched September B - a classic.

Sadly, living in Spain, I have not as yet had an opportunity to see Frost* live, but I live in hope.

Cheers

Pedro

Lots of excellent bands mentioned here (PT, SB, Genesis, Marillion) and lots of excellent biscuit references too. Well done everyone!

BLM seems to be a fav. song amongst a number of people. Could it be the MC Hammer- esque keyboard solo?    (BTW I have MC Hammer on my iPod so shut-it or I'll set the dogs on ya... or something else masculine and macho).

My first post too. Again been a long time lurker and as I didn't feel I had anything interesting to say I never got around to registering!!

My favourite biscuit has to be Oreo's  :D  closely followed by fruit shortcake!

As for how I got into Frost*. I have been a longtime fan of It bites. When it bites.com got the newer forum going before the 2006 tour with JM. there was some link to a free download of BLM. (I believe with programmed drums, rather than TBE playing) I was hooked from the first listen. I actually thought it was JM who had written it and suggested that It bites should play it on that tour. Jem soon put me right though

Got to see them first time at the DVD shoot. Awesome band, can't wait to see the end result.
