Frostingtons,

I just thought I'd update you with where we're at regarding the new DVD. As ever with this band, it's not been the plainest of sailing so far. Cut a long story short we keep being buggered about with dates. The problem we have is that as we only want 2 days, Rockfield are reluctant to commit to that in case they get a big name block booking in which in commercial terms is perfectly understandable. However, as a result, our initial dates of 9/10 March couldn't be confirmed. My good friend Rob Reed (who's being an absolute star in helping get this whole thing sorted) then suggested we go to a different studio also in Rockfield (How many cool residential recording studios does one town need??!) who had availability on the 14/15th March. So I checked with the band, bearing in mind everybody, especially Blunders, has a mad mad schedule. Miraculously we were all free so I gave Rob the big Yay! for that. Hurrah!

Then we get email last night saying "Unfortunately, another client has just extended their session by a week until 23rd March however I can offer you 3/4th March or 24/25th March as alternatives".

Now at this point, I'm getting a tad exasperated. To be honest I've not even bothered emailing the rest of the guys about this yet as I'm getting a bit tired of continually changing the goal posts. I know that Craig can't do the alternative offered dates so currently we're at an impasse.

I'm going to email round in a minute to check everybody's schedules (again) for April and May and then we'll have to take it from there.

Anyway, I just thought I'd keep you in the loop. This WILL get done. It's just a question of when! Ah, it never rains...

Thanks for the update is it a case of wanting Rockfield because it's well known and live at "other studio name here" wouldn't sound as good?

Because a friend of a friend has a studio in West Wales and the live room is probably bigger than Rockfield's I can forward you details if you want

Ah, that's the joy of professional musicians, especially the good ones; they are always busy.
Booking 4 very good (and thus busy) musicians on the same date at the same place... Quite a project.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Really looking forward to the end result. :D

Thank you for the update, Sir. No worries. It'll happen when it's meant to.

Would Studio 3 at Abbey Road be doable ???
I only ask as my band have looked at doing some stuff there, althoughwe were quoted a (pre VAT rise) figure of £1500 per day
But then it IS Abbey Road ;)

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, Jem sir. If there's anything we can do to help (someone mentioned a Marillion-style pre-order campaign before, didn't they?), then you know where we are.  ;)

Yes!! I'd support this method for this (any any future) Frost* releases.

Spock's Beard did something similar with their last album - fans pre-ordered and gave their names which SB incorporated into a song!!

I know the idea has been kicked around here a few times (at least once by me!!!) but I think Jem has said he doesn't really favour it. It puts additional pressure on to deliver to a timetable and that's when what is a fun sideline becomes a bit of an obligation.
I know Jem 'feels the love in the room', and we'll get info and pre-order chances once the 'product' is nearer completion.

I'm just glad for an update, it'll take the time it takes and be all the more enjoyable for the wait :)

Personally, I'd love that as I love a shed. And an allotment. And so would our resident vegan, Nath as he loves green beans. :D
