Hi All,

I have been recently working on a song for my band Futureshock. We gig once every 3 or 4 years and generally go for months practicing the same songs over and over and then get fed up with each other and stop for a while.

So anyway since you are all wonderful and lovely I wondered if anyone would be interested in having a little listen. Its devoid of any vocals current and is still a work in progress. The most exciting thing about it to me is that it features my first experiment outside of 4/4 (7/8 I think) and luckily it doesn't necessarily feel 'tacked on', to me at least.

We try to "fuse" electronic music with rock music. Thats the intention anyway.

I would really love to hear your comments and suggestions - whether it be about the song writing or the mix or anything at all.
Anyway enough of my letters, words and other characters. here it is:

Might need to work on the title too.

I like!  I'll listen again tomorrow at work when I can turn it up a bit!  ;)

Oh good at least thats one person :P

I would really like to hear any comments from anyone. I know its not really prog, sorry about that ;)

Hmm...who says it's not really prog?
Yeah, like it too. I can "hear" things happening over the top of that so I hope you get to add the leads/vox.
Keen to know how it turns out.

I wasn't sure of the "upper" guitar was a little "loose" on the timing initially? I tend to over quantise stuff so maybe I'm not comfy with the human feel (oo-er!) but it sounded like it could be a little tighter.
I like the Nintendo sound and the nice time-sig "shift".

Look forward to the next version(s). Thanks for sharing. :)

Nice - really like the mix of techno type sounds and the guitars. Drums sound good too, are they programmed ?? If so what sounds are they as they sit nicely in the mix too. :D

You may well be right, I'll have to take a closer look at that. I do remember rushing the recording of those bits as I really wanted to get the ideas down ASAP ( what with them being so genius and all   ). Thanks for pointing it out though as I have heard it so much now that I hadn't noticed.

Yeah programmed drums, steven slate ex which was on offer some time last year. It's a great set of samples. Probably the cracky metal set i think. If I remember correctly I put a touch of tracks vintage compressor thing on it too though not a lot as the individual samples are already compressed an eq'd as far as I know.

I'll have to develop it a bit further and upload a new version in the coming weeks :) thanks again for all you comments, it's a massive help.

The first set of bleeps, around 1:10, sound a bit on the loud side to me. Might just be the crappy speakers I'm using at the minute though. Not much bass in them.

However, if you like this sorta thing (and I do, by the way, top stuff!), you might like Machinae Supremacy. Guitar-based rock with synths and the like, plus a Commodore 64 sound chip. Sounds like a rocked-up version of my childhood. They even do a medley of Outrun, Bubble Bobble, and some other old C64 games. :D

You may well be right sir, I remember mixing them quite high so that they didn't get lost - I shall have to have another listen and make adjustments accordingly. Thanks for your comments :)

Seriously now this is the craziest coincidence ever (OK, I'm exaggerating slightly) but last night I took a trip to Birmingham, queued outside the O2 academy for 1 and a half hours to see Machinae Supremacy! I've been a fan for probably nearly 10 years or something like that! They were supporting children of bodom and some other shouty bands so me and my friend bailed out as soon as MaSu finished so £20+ plus £8 train for a 20 minute/4 song set. Worth every penny ;)

Ah, man! I didn't even know they were playing the UK!

This is fantastic! The gated saws actually go really nicely with the guitars. Wicked chord progression too. Love it!

Only constructive criticism I can really give, is maybe the strings (i only noticed this at the end) seem to 'jump' to the next chord. Makes them sound synthesized (although that may be what you're going for)

Would sound class with vocals too :)
