Dear Frosties,

I'm going to see Rush play Moving Pictures at Sheffield on Thursday evening (19 May), but I was going to take my eldest lad and it turns out he's got an A-level mock exam the next morning. I'm very impressed that he's disappointed about not being able to worship at the High Altar of Rock Deities, and more impressed still that he's so diligent about his education. But, hell, I'm still going even though I've got to teach the next morning!

This means that I've got a spare ticket if anyone wants to join me. Somehow I doubt the wife will fancy it...

All the best,

David

Hi David,
I was only talking to someone about this gig today!! Do you still have the ticket and if so, what's your price sir?
Hello, is there anybody in there?............

Hi Neil and Mike,

I've had no takers, and to be honest I'm not all that bothered about recouping all of the money (£45) - I just don't want the ticket to be wasted.

If either of you want to join me, I suppose forum etiquette is that it'll probably best if you PM me with your details?

Cheers,

David

What am I like? Honestly.

When I said Sheffield, what I meant was "Manchester".

Good job I checked the ticket this morning before setting off later.

Doh!

Sorry I couldn't make it.
The wonders of UPS.

Where's the gig report?

... & I logged on using my phone, technological breakthrough for me.  :D

Excellent gig - first time I've seen Rush live in the flesh. I'm not an avid fan of absolutely every note they've ever committed to record, but I was pretty thrilled overall. Certainly an amazing show, and hilarious spoof rockumentaries to start both halves of the evening. Also some surprises in the set-list, such as "Time stand still", "Presto" and "Leave that thing alone" (all within the first half hour!).

I thought the roof was going to come off when we got to the home straight of 'Closer to the heart' and '2112'. The bizarre 80s synthy-pop comedy intro for 'La villa strangiato' was baffling until Geddy Lee started pumping out those syncopated chords on the keyboard before Lifeson and Peart crashed in with the real thing.

All in all, a great gig.
