Quote from: "D S"That was the facility which I wondered how you could do a Frost* gig without, having seen how much use you made of the ones on the Fantom...  :?

Well, the pads kinda made up an extra octave which is why it was possible to do the gig on just one board. However it did mean a phenomenal patch change rate. Simple solution this time out - do it with 2 keyboards.  :D

Quote from: "Jem"I do miss the pads though, I'm in the process of trying to lobby Korg that a software upgrade that would enable one to plug in a Nanopad and trigger notes that way would be great. It does have 2 USB ports after all. Feel free to email them too.  :D

Well, what do you know? V1.5 was released in September that enables Nanopad control via USB.

KRONOS System Version 1.5 Highlights
• 7 new Program banks provide 896 additional free slots to store programs from Korg, from third party developers, or those you create yourself
• 7 new banks each of Wave Sequences and Drum Kits to match the new Program banks
• The maximum number of RAM Samples and Multisamples has been increased by four, allowing Kronos to load more samples at once
• Supports input from USB MIDI controllers: play Kronos sounds from auxiliary keyboards via USB
• Direct support for playing and selecting chords from Korg pad-equipped USB controllers, including the nanoPAD, nanoPAD2, and KONTROL series
• Support for installing additional RAM: more than double the amount of memory for EXs and RAM samples
• Support for the Kronos Editor and Plug-in Editor software

I downloaded the DX5 and DX7 factory patch set today from Dave Benson's excellent DX resource site. By downloading the DX5 manual, I was able to recreate the entire bi-timbral factory patch set using both MOD-7 engines available in a patch, so I've now got a DX7 and a DX5 onboard, free of charge. This is a such a TOP synth.  :D
