Cruelly nipped in the bud at the end of the old forum, I thought I'd start a new one here. It looks like the London show in January will be filmed for a DVD release.

And a (US only) DVD of them live in London in 1990 is close to release too.

What a great show that was!  :D

I had a copy of Dogman and it's now lost. :(  I really love that album and admit
I must discover their other albums. I saw them when they opened up for
Dream Theater a while back. Amazing band.

Excellent news, I'll be there!!  8-)

The Cosmic Lawnmower

Only two UK dates  :? shame I would have liked to have seen them had they been a bit closer to my neck of the woods.

Always liked 'Tape Head'....

If you don't have Gretschen Goes to Nebraska, just do yourself a favour and buy it....

Great song.  Honestly, though, the first 4 KX albums were excellent.  I especially love their eponymous 4th album.  "Prisoner" is probably one of my favorites from the band and I was shocked it wasn't included on their "Best Of."

"Ear Candy" is my least favorite album with "Ogre Tones," "Black Like Sunday" and "Manic Moonlight" not far behind.  There are a couple of songs on each I don't mind, but the rest just never caught on with me.  I'm glad the guys are willing to try new things, but ya can't please everybody.

"Dogman" and "Tape Head" are pretty strong.

"Please Come Home... Mr. Bulbous" has some great moments on it.

That said, I think their newest, "XV," is one of the best they've ever done.

I saw them in 1988 or so. First or second tour to the UK. Outstanding. What amazed me was how much sound 3 people could make. Loved the first 2 albums, on vinyl then  . Then they fell off my radar.

Must start collecting again.

It's Love, from Faith, Hope, Love is on my iPod on a Mix Playlist. Cracking song.
It's not the winning or even taking part. It's the arsing about that counts.

Interesting choices and only a little different to my own!  I started with Dogman and then worked backwards - and then forwards as they released new albums.  Loved the first 2 and King's X but didn't think Hope, Faith, Love was as strong.  Dogman is obviously a bit of a classic but my favourite is actually Ear Candy, your least favourite!  Tapehead was good and I saw them on that tour - stood right in front of Doug's bass rig - not recommended as I was deaf in one ear for the next 24 hours!
Thereafter they went really downhill IMO - Mr Bulbous is unlistenable and there were only a few good tracks on each of the following two CDs.  Ogre Tones was a bit of a return to form and they bounced right back with XV.
Incidentally, why XV?  It isn't their 15th album, even including live and compilation albums?  :?
Come on, you\'re a lion!

I haven't heard an official explanation, but my best guess is that they're including the Sneak Preview album, which was released independently in 1983 before they changed their name to King's X.

A little later on I'll dig through and compile a favorite track list.

I much prefer dUg's vocals to Ty's, but "It's Love" was the first KX song I'd heard and loved every chord of.  Sadly, they don't play it live very much anymore (I've seen them 3 times and I think they played it the first time I saw them - not sure - but, they definitely didn't play it the other two.)  Hopefully, they'll break it out when they're in London.

I've got Moonflower Lane, as well.  After hearing "I Do," I had to have it.

Black Like Sunday got me back into them after a time away. Up until that point 'Kings X' (the 4th one) was the last one that I bought. I thought Ogre Tones was a bit patchy, but XV is excellent and highly recommended.

Roll on January!  :D
